  • 2010 Charles Joguet Chinon Cuvée Terroir 88 Points

    France, Loire Valley, Touraine, Chinon

Complex bouquet which develops in the glass. First a bit rustic with cherries, smoke, some barnyard and oak. Later more primary fruits like raspberries, red cherries and cerise. Same on the palate plus some minerals and dark berry fruits. Juicy acidity and slightly sticky tannin. Waiting a few years, so all components can integrate a bit more, will be rewarding.

The bouquet is still a bit locked, but shows beautifully fresh red berry fruits as well as red and black cherries, some pepper and a slight touch of pleasant oak. Same on the palate. Some spiciness as well. Mild acidity and round, slightly sticky tannin. Really nice wine. Give it another 3+ years of ageing. 89+

Flight 3 (3 Notes)

  • 2009 Château Brown 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

See also my TN from December last year. Both notes are completely blind. In this bottle the oak was more present. On the palate also graphite and licorice beside the flavors mentioned in my previous note. This wine clearly needs some more ageing so all components can integrate. In 2018 or a few years later it will probably be at its peak. 89+?

  • 2009 Château Maucamps 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc

Beautiful bouquet with creamy fruits, some vanilla and pepper and it already shows some development. On the palate dark and red forest fruits, sweet spices, licorice, a touch of bell pepper, some oaky impressions, juicy acidity and round, mild tannin with a soft bite. Medium to full bodied. Nice wine in its early maturity stage now, but it will improve over the next 4 – 5+ years. Around 2019 it will probably reach its maturity stage. 87 - 88

  • 2005 Mas de Daumas Gassac

France, Languedoc Roussillon, Languedoc, Vin de Pays de l'Hérault

Beautiful bouquet with some pleasant barnyard and sweet spices. On the palate juicy red and black berry fruits, some earth and oaky impressions. Firm acidity and tannin and a bit edgy and green. The wine is not really impressing at the moment. It is probably in a dumb phase and needs another 5+ years of ageing. I have a few, so there will be a follow up. No score for today.
