Oddball Blend wine tasting. We had 24 people, divided into three tables of 8. Each group had 5 wines, which were wrapped in paper bags. All the wines were opened at least 45 minutes before serving, although since they also had measured pour nozzles, I don't think they got a chance to breathe much. The wines in order of tasting were: 2013 Micheal David Winery Petite Petit (for 2 tables) and the 2013 Cara Nord Conca deBarbera Negre (for 1 table), the 2010 Obsidian Ridge Half Mile Proprietary Red, the 2005 (and for 1 table the 2006) Shafer Relentless, the 2009 Dehlinger Petite Sirah/Zinfandel Guadagni Brothers, and the 2013 Jax Vineyards Y3 Taureau.
By vote, the WOTN was the 2010 Obsidian Ridge Half Mile Proprietary Red, although it also had the most "dislike" votes. It was very polarizing. The 2nd favorite wine was the Jax Y3.
2010 Obsidian Ridge Half Mile 93 Points

Had this at a blind tasting. WOTN, but also had the most votes for least favorite. Very polarizing. Very tannic, and it took a while to open up. All that Petite Verdot made it tough for some of my group to id this as a CA Cab.

2013 Jax Vineyards Y3 TAUREAU 92 Points

This was a big hit a blind tasting. 2nd favorite wine of the night. It went very well with Cassoulet Toulousain. It stood up very well to the duck.

2006 Shafer Relentless 90 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley
Had this at a blind tasting. I have enjoyed other bottles of Relentless more. Maybe this is too old for this blend?

A very enjoyable fruit driven wine. Had it blind and everyone enjoyed it.

This didn't show as well as I expected. It might be on the downside of its drinking window. My last two bottles. Actually my least favorite wine of the night.

2009 Dehlinger Petite Sirah/Zinfandel Guadagni Vineyard 90 Points

An enjoyable wine. My last 3 bottles. Threw off a lot of sediment. The Peite Sirah dominated the Zinfandel.

2013 Cara Nord Conca de Barberà Negre
Spain, Catalunya, Tarragona, Conca de Barberà
No rating. As I didn't get to try this wine. But the 8 people who did, were mixed on their thoughts on this wine. I probably won't purchase it again in the future.
