  • 1970 Cockburn Porto Vintage 94 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

Nicely developed and mature wine. A touch of elegant strawberry fruit and packed with peppermint, fresh herbs and caramel.
Lovely and sweet aftertaste with a touch of mint that is med-long. A very charming wine.

  • 1970 Croft Porto Vintage 92 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

Packed with caramel flavors but also prunes, orange peel and brown sugar. Airy and spicy aftertaste but also a bit dusty on the nose.
A little short aftertaste and the bottle seemed semi-defective.
There were other bottles in the tasting that had a lot more freshness!

  • 1970 Gould Campbell Porto Vintage 90 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

Delicate cherry fruit and a little gun-powder. The alcohol dominates a little bit but it has a lot of freshness.
Overall it is a fine wine but to me it seemed a little plain. Lots of people disagreed though :-)

Light flavors of raspberry and cherry fruit with a lot of freshness and impressive intense acidity. Also a touch of liquorice and chocolate.
A very impressive wine with plenty of fruit left for further development. Great wine!

  • 1970 Graham Porto Vintage 94 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

Very impressive core of dark plum fruit. Quite sweet and flowery with a touch of fresh mint.
Lots of intensity and primary flavors but also perhaps lacks a little acidity as it felt a bit flabby.
Long and spicy aftertaste with plenty of complexity like black tea and dark chocolate.
    A wonderful wine!!

  • 1970 Fonseca Porto Vintage 96 Points

    Portugal, Douro, Porto

Huge core of dark and intense black cherry fruit with impressions of butterscotch, coffee, chocolate and different spices like cinnamon/cloves.
Intense and explosive wine with a long and very complex aftertaste. Some sweetness left but kept in balance with a vibrant acidity.
Simply, a huge wine that lived up to the hype :-)
