Introduction

We decided to have a gathering at our house. More importantly, it had been too long since we all got together, so what is better than good food, great friends, and amazing wine? I had planned on serving the Austin estate Pinot Noir and Bevan cellars on ontogeny, and had time to open those before our guests arrived. One of our friends brought a bottle of port and a bottle of Quixote. We also opened a bottle of at the very end. It was fun to see if people could guess the varietal and the origin of this one.

What a great wine. I opened this 3 hours prior to consuming. Slow ox, no decant. This is up there with one of my favorite wines. Super smooth, bright red fruit, a little cola / vanilla at the end without being sweet at all. Long finish. A great style of Pinot that is not a fruit bomb, yet still is considered a big wine.

What a crowd pleaser! Opened and slow ox for 3-4 hours ahead of time. I did not try it as a pop and poor, but did sample it at two hours. At that point, it was amazing. By 3–4 hours it was truly something special. It was decadent yet complex. There was a lot of core fruit flavors, both red the predominately blue/black. Milk chocolate in the middle with a very long finish.

One of our close friends brought this over for us to try. This was a pop and pour. The nose was very floral and had an interesting spice like quality to it. The flavor profile for a Cabernet solving young was very interesting and unique. It was not a fruit dominant profile at all. It is predominantly Nutmeg, clove, vanilla. There's also some tobacco. It was consumed quickly, so I never was able to see how it evolves over time. I'll be looking to pick up another bottle in the future

  • 2013 Bodegas El Nido Jumilla Clio 93 Points

    Spain, Murcia, Jumilla

Opened at the end of the night. Popped and poured. It only took 15–20 minutes for this to open. What an excellent wine, and an amazing wine for this price point. There is bright red fruit, it is sweet without being syrupy, and it is such an easy drinking wine. If you were looking to try something new and different, then I would look to pick up a bottle of this wine.
