Blind: guessed champagne. No idea which produce though, I stink at that part of the game.
Coloring is light yellow with a green undertone. I detected a slight sweetness, green apple and cherry, that the others didn't. It reminded me of a sour apple jolly rancher but not that overt. Medium acidity and very fine bubbles. Really nice length on the finish.
Blind: Guessed Arcadian PN, close. After I said I was convinced the fruit was from Santa Rita Hills Chris guessed Liquid Farm and he's never tasted it before. That's crazy, who does that?
Nice bright cranberry color, very good clarity. Sparkles in the glass. Lovely tart red berries and cranberry flavor, reserved. The structure is very angular and rough at this point, it certainly required more air time than we permitted. My goodness, everyone really liked this wine, it's superb. Heck, I thought it was Arcadian, enough said. Amazing as this is the first Pinot noir vintage for the LF crew.
Side note: 2,500th tasting note on cellartracker. The madness continues.
Blind: I thought northern Italian white, took a stab at Vietti Arneis. I was wrong but happy with it. Lots of chatter on this one until the revealing.
Green tint and washed out yellow color. Nose is very interesting, something like raw almond, tree fruit, and plenty of tropical hints. Surprising, creamy mouthfeel, like a juice, but a solid backbone of acid. Huh. Pineapple and good complexity. A bite on the finish which came off as very mild pepper.
Jeez, this is really enjoyable and a geek wine for $18
This just looked like Pinot when it was poured into my glass. Nose was a little boozy but I'm sure that would burn off. What immediately caught my attention were the elements on the palate that were not fruit related. This had a northern rhone Syrah or southern rhone Grenache complexity thing going on. And I liked it. Terpins, toasted oak, low levels of red fruit, tar, and crushed rock. Really nice wine.
After shocking my nose in the glass, this was screaming northern rhone to me. This wine has crazy game. Dark incense, chalk, grit, red berries, blood, sweat, and tears. Fantastic.
