2 small pours at a tasting, from a magnum. One taste before the tasting began was pleasant and non-descript. At the end of the tasting, we revisted the opened magnum and it had opened up with a lot more brioche, toast and caramelization.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
A small pour at a tasting. Nice good flavor and spice. Good structure. At this young age, I don't feel it differentiates itself much from other quality pinot. Best to hold.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
A small tasting pour. As nice as this was, it didn't differentiate itself much compared to the regular Pegau. This seemed riper, with a lot of red cherry. I hope/imagine it will improve, if it doesn't become a science project.
A small tasting pour, didn't notice it was Grand Cru or $$$$ until after I'd drank it, and no strong indication in the taste of that. Pleasant enough as a Chablis, but absolutely crazy for that price.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
A small tasting pour. After I complained that they were committing infanticide, I took a sip, and found a surprisingly open and delightful CDP. Good balance, nice earth and minerality.
A small tasting pour. Wonderful complexity, nice fruit, a lot of mushroom, forest floor. A delight. I believe this is the first Lopez Heredia red I've had that wasn't oxidized to all hell.
A small tasting pour. This white was very interesting. Quite complex. Cured meats, a little spicy. Revisited at the end of the tasting and it seemed to have fleshed out a bit. I'm not sure I'm a buyer at this price, but the wine got my attention.
A small tasting pour. I don't know what to make of this. Crazy tropical fruit on the nose, such that I started to wonder if it was a dessert wine. The palate is slihtly more subdued, still lots of tropical fruit. One-dimensial, I can't imagine wanting to drink much of this wine.
