Tonight we focused on whites, comparing a Rhone white (mostly grenache blanc), a Loire chenin blanc, and a Mosel riesling. All three were good wine and it was a fun evening with friends as always.
The group favorite was the chenin blanc. I agreed, but enjoyed the riesling almost as much (and it would have been tops for me if it had come across a bit less sweet).
2011 Michel Gassier Costières-de-Nîmes Nostre Païs Blanc 90 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Costières-de-Nîmes
Not much changed over the last couple years. Peach pit, apricot, a hint of honey, solid acidity. It has a slightly oily texture and heavy weight.

2010 Thibaud Boudignon Anjou Blanc 91 Points

Great palate of ripe apple, peach, honeycomb. Nice acidic balance. The nose is holding this back from a higher score, it was quite muted the whole evening.

2010 Dr. Heidemanns-Bergweiler Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spätlese 91 Points
Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer
Lively nose, floral and tropical aromatics. Lots of sweet apple, honey, and some orange notes on the palate. Some acidity to balance, although a bit on the sweet side for my palate overall. Good, and paired great with a nice blue cheese.
