The post 1990 vintages all showed a common style - elegant, light bodied, restrained - nice and stylish but not, for me, very exciting. The '62 and the '61 also showed this stylishness, but the star, by a long, long way, was the 1959.
2003 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 91 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Ripe, fruity and enticing - fine, especially for a 2003, slightly chewy tannins on the finish, which some found bitter.

1998 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 90 Points

Much sweeter than the other recent dbs, exotic, smooth texture, no grip, very approachable

Very like the 1996, I thought, dark, balanced, focused, but still tight

1982 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 90 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Dark, light bodied, warm and smooth on the palate, unshowy - nice claret but one expects more from a 1982

1970 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou Flawed
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Some browning, slightly musty, on the palate a lot of ripe fruit and fat - Linden declared it corked and it wasn't discussed, but I found the taint quite slight

1961 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 91 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Browning, but on the palate vigorous and savoury, silky texture, all going nicely and then it suddently disappeared

1959 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 94 Points

Very dark, plush, ripe, perfect marriage of sweetness and savoury, long too - wine of the night by a mile

1945 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou 86 Points
France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
Opaque still, mushroom and fruitcake nose, this too was savoury, but not very appetising - but nowhere near as bad as Linden seemed to think it was.
