Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2004 Shafer Relentless 91 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Black color with a red rim. Warm, modern style nose, with licorise, roasted oak, blueberries and some ink. Lots of dark fruit on the palate and some dark bitter chocolate. Long taste that ends in a sweet punch. Powerful wine with sweet fruit, warmth and alcohol, but not as much tannins.

  • 2004 Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 89 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Dark red color with a purple hue. Cool black currant nose, with some tobaco, stalks and newly mown grass. On the palate it has black currant and licorise, and a herbaceous note, like green pepper fruit, on the midpalate. Ending with some bitterness, dark chocolate, but still fruity sweetness. Good length, but moderate tannins.

  • 2005 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon 92 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Dark red color with a purple hue. Huge, concentrated black currant nose, very modern and ripe fruit. Similarly the palate has tons of sweet black currant and black berry. Some tobaco comes along on the midpalate, but the fruit stays and fills the mouth on the long aftertaste. Very good intensity and balance, but modern style warm fruit dominates.

  • 1999 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 94 Points

    USA, Washington

Dark red color with a brick red hue. Rustic black currant fruit, tobaco and some licorise on the nose. A good deal of fruit first, but it is gaining a lot of complexity on the midpalate, with notes of dark chocolate and licorise. Good structure and superb balance. Amazing length, and it remains really elegant even under the intensity and power. A really good wine, that needs more time.

  • 1997 Viader 93 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

Dark red center with a brownish rim. Aromas of black currant, creamy port/sherry, caramel and peppermint. Some black currant and vanila on the palate, dried fruit and some sweet licorise on the midpalate. It turns a bit dry on the finish with some chalk. Very good length and balance. Overall very nice wine that drink really well right now.
