Ann and I wanted to get together with some friends to share some wines we all have been wanting to pull out. Brian and Karen, Ken and Kelly, Brett and Carol, Patti, Holly, Ann and I were in attendance.
2006 Aston Pinot Noir Clone 777 88 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Coast
classic pinot nose with cherries and hints of smoke and bacon. Much better than a sampling of 10 pinots we had last week at Harry's Savoy. Ann said there was something she found unpleasant on the finish on the sides of her tongue.

1997 Hanzell Pinot Noir 90 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley
Intense cherry nose. Sweet cherries, soft tannins in the mouth. On the finish you first notice a good amount of acidity. When that recedes candied cherries remain. I really liked this pinot, but others in the group preferred the Aston. This wine still has a little life left.

1996 Dante Rivetti Barbaresco Bricco de Neueis Riserva 94 Points
Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco
wow what a nice wine. Unbelievable nose - I could just sit and smell this wine. Licorice, tobacco, earth, floral notes, with nice fruit. Very fine tannins and nice balance. Has some life left.

1999 S. Anderson Cabernet Sauvignon SAV 88 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley, Stags Leap District
Nice balanced wine with mellowed tannins, dark fruits and some green pepper. I generally don't prefer any green pepper notes, but this was still good.

1999 Casisano-Colombaio Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
Decanted two hours. Nice classic brunello nose with licorice/anise blackberries and what i thought was honey. Ann said the nose had a sweetness to it. Dark fruits with a raisen like quality. Good finish. Nice wine but I have to say it was a little dissappointing though. High eighties?

1999 Livingston Moffett Red Wine Gemstone Vineyard 88 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley, Yountville
Nose had a very subtle hint of green pepper but was still decent. Tannins have mellowed and the wine is easy drinking. A little tart on the finish.

2004 Vincent Arroyo Petite Sirah 92 Points
USA, California, Napa Valley
Very nice with nose of dark fruits, coconut, dark chocolate. Tastes of blueberries with fine tannins and lots of complexity. A big wine. Maybe the best wine of the night along with the Barbaresco.

very sweet, with nice port like flavors. Should have written more notes! Everyone liked this one.
