While this is quite a bit more refined than the regular bottling with citrus peel, lemon verbeena, and clean acidity, it doesn't hold the value that the regular bottling does. Medium body, slight minerality, and a touch of an herbal streak.
Interesting. Completely different from the last two vintages tasted. I still enjoy it quite a bit, just different. Not quite as much weight and creaminess. A bit more grilled pear, yellow apple. Still maintains beautiful acidity. Definitely a food wine. Nice mineral streak. Can't wait until next vintage.
WOW! Definitely white wine of the night if not wine of the night overall! Amazing aromatics of richness and complexity. Slightly floral, tropical fruits of papaya and mango, and minerals. The palate is not quite as rich as anticipated and amazingly balanced. White peach, stonefruits, again a floral and mineral streak. The acidity is beautiful. Consumed over 2 day period and it never got tired. Fresh and vibrant. Ageworthy as well.
Straightforward and rather simple. Good alternative to some of the "bigger" Pinots out there. Does have nice berry fruits, some spice, and great acidity. Rather food friendly. Day 2 was even simpler, even quaffable. Good, not sure where the value holds up though.
A bit different than what I anticipated at first. Gorgeous aromatics of blueberry liqueur, almost like canned blueberry pie. The palate was leaner than expected with crisp acidity, touch of heat and spices. After about 1 1/2 hours, this thing fleshes out into what I expect from this producer. Bordering over the top with a richness and extraction with loads of smokey oak, toasty chocolate, and cracked pepper. Still holds nice acidity and bright fruit, just a bit more extracted.
Even though this isn't necessarily the type of wine I would normally drink, this thing is HUGE. Big, rich, bold and smokey black and blue fruits. Rich and opulent with not necessarily a firm tannin structure, it's that the fruit and richness holds up to the tannins. This just might evolve into an interesting wine. Definitely approachable and needs a big braised meat dish to complement.
Tasted others blind. We all enjoyed quite a bit. For me, it was a good wine. Still just another Cali Cab though. Classic currants, black cherry, cedar box. Tannins are there, maybe a touch obtrusive. Give 5 years to round out and become "interesting". Bought 3, tasted 1, will sell the other 2!!
