gunflint palate. merlot flesh. i want to say CF from the touch of maize to it, but ben claims unripe Cab Sauv. potpourri. tangy again. nice wine, but it i wouldn't touch it for a year.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
consistent w/ yesterday's bottle. dusty cherry. forest floor. i was told lots of wood, but... i'm not exactly getting that. again tangy acidity. big tannin. great.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
referred to as the most muscular brunello. this bottle didn't display the sherry/prunish notes that i got yesterday. much more on point than yesterday.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
digestive aromas. something very savory and acidic. not as i remember the other bottle yesterday. very lively acidity. tangy. strawberry. ben suggests that he gets the digestive aroma often from cab done in slovenian oak. it seems that at this price, i'll think of this as intriguing.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
again, that same deep aroma of burnt nuts as the '01 brunello. hazel or macadamia. bits of barnyard wafting off this one. again, what a weird spot for a wine to be in.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
barrique. showing much more fruit than the bottle yesterday. cherry fruit to the nose. touch of rose petal. this seems to be more harmonious than yesterday. the wood seems more in check.
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
such a thunderous dark roasted nut aroma. totally separates itself from the rest of the wine. so deep. wet grain. bran muffins. such a drying finish. bizarre stage for this wine.
2004 Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino Flawed
Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino
