  • 2006 Whistling Eagle Shiraz Eagle's Blood

    Australia, Victoria, Central Victoria, Heathcote

What is it that these 500 million year old Cambrian soils really do for the wine? What is the expression in the wine? These answers seemed tough to deduce upon drinking the wine or materialized upon scouring the web. Please help us out here.
Heathcote - Temperate climate, once part of Bendigo
Nose suggests higher level of acidity. i'm getting cabernet with a big black liquorice whiff. hints of iron. black fruit palate is part of the rich structure this wine carries. Climatic differences are very present between Heathcote and Coonawarra.

  • NV The Black Chook Sparkling Shiraz

    Australia, South Australia

This could become Charles Smith's new breakfast wine. Not for sale, but for his own personal consumption. OK, I guess we all really have that problem here, not just Chuck.
Ben calls the Rye. Dead on. Rich fruit expression on the palate and so much weight for a sparkler. The fruit tannin component to these sparkling Shiraz's always throw me for a loop.
