An excellent bottle, consumed next to the 83. Superb richness and opulence of sweet fruit and garrigue with a long, fat finish. Not as gamy as some other Beau's.

Had this along side the 81. Beautiful fruit and spices, more animalistic than the 81. Lots of rich fruit on the entry, but then the intensity drops off a bit, finishing a bit short and rustic compared to the 81. Lots of tea on the nose and the finish. Delicious.
Fantastic aromas of white pepper and flowers, rich and fat. Palate delivers on this promise, especially on the finish. There is some rich fruit in there, but it is almost obscured by the density of the wonderful, mouth-coating, velvety texture. This show that it would be a good idea to bury some of those more recent Lytton Syrahs for a while.

Terrific intensity on nose and palate, but balanced enough to pull it all off. Cassis, pepper, roasted coffee, huge persistent presence on palate, with a finish that lasts seemingly forever. Decanted for 6 hours prior to drinking.
Thick as motor oil, loaded with figs, caramel, molassas, coffee, and butter. This has a texture like liquid velvet, and enough acidity to balance out the huge sweetness. The finish sits on in your mouth forever. Absolutely delicious. Had this next to the 1975 - we found the 71 to be less hot, richer, and more concentrated.

Pleasant, but after 1 glass it became overpoweringly tooty-fruity for me.

Quite restrained and elegant, but done very well. Excellent balance, a nice break from many over-the-top CA wines.
