France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
Certainly not quite in the flush of use. A fruity nose, mixed red fruits reminiscent of summer pudding. Plenty of fruit as the wine passes your lips, soft tannins and good balance, needs food, drinking well now but will be at its best in 3 to 5 years, quite long.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru
Quite a youthful colour. A lovely nose, aromatic fruit with plenty of complexity. Still very youthful, fruit and tannins beautifully balanced, a lovely full mouth but this wine won't be at its zenith for 5 to 10 years, good length.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru
Showing plenty of age. A very vegetal nose, peas with fungi, interesting and complex, with volcanic notes - and then the fruit comes through. There's still some fruit in the mouth, it's fairly smooth but with evidence of tannins, a bit of pepper comes in at the finish, this might improve over the next 3 to 5 years, medium length.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
This is showing a fair amount of age. A really inviting nose combing animal and vegetal complexities. Very animal, weighty and delicious, not for keeping, soft and fruity in the mid-palate, medium length.
Light in colour with less age than expected. "Cabbages" my sister would say with delight, fruity and vegetal welcome, complex, delicate. Fruity attack with residual soft tannins, fresh enjoyable mid-palate, medium length.
Not showing much age, quite dense. Fruity and youthful nose, with meaty notes underneath. A fruity attack, some oak still, velvety mid-palate but a bit "treacly", quite long, might improve a bit but not for keeping over 3 years.
NOTE - The label said Beaune but the cork said Premier Cru Les Agrots! Very little age for an 8-year-old wine. Very complex and inviting fruit and vegetable nose. Fruity, with a great mid-palate, at its zenith now and should stay there for another five years, good length.
A little age, but only a little. Fruity, youthful, complex nose - lovely. Youthful, oaky, fruity, delicious but not yet near its best, will be very, very good in 5 - 15 years, great length.
