Incredible experience for only ten bucks. Loved all wines tasted. Truly remarkable being able to sample two vintages of Termantha and the 1999 Numanthia out of a mag.
Thanks again Binny's!
2006 Bodega Numanthia Toro Termes 90 Points
Spain, Castilla y León, Toro
Medium dark purple. Not opaque.
Gorgeous nose of ripe blueberries, blackberries. Nice play of leather with creamy pie-like aromas of more dark berries.
Violets on the back end. Tons on the nose, especially for a wine at this price point.
Feminine in style showcasing lots of fruit and now mocha. Lovely aromatics.
Palate shows raspberry, bitter chocolate and earthy cassis. Easy drinking with lots of solid backbone and acidity.
Excellent value at this price and a great bottling overall regarless of price.

2005 Bodega Numanthia Toro Numanthia 94 Points
Spain, Castilla y León, Toro
Fantastic bottle of juice!!! Slightly more opaque than the 2006. Deep ruby (rather than 2006's purple) color. Still some purple tint near core.
Beautiful full nose. Lots of layered dark elegant fruit. Blackberries, dark cherries, with licorice, and some nice heat that's enjoyable with its accompanying fruit.
Excellent on palate. Rich and extracted showing the lenth, purity and finesse of a $100 Napa Cab to be honest. Plums, blackberries, leather and some sure signs of quality oak.
Medium high acidity, alcohol and tannins. Very well integrated as a whole. Expansive finish with a full, round and opulent mouth feel. This, for the money, was the wine of the evening.
I recommend anyone grab a bottle of tihs if it's in your price range and you are looking for a blockbuster stlyed New World bottling. You get a lot of bang for your buck - I promise.

2006 Bodega Numanthia Toro Numanthia 92 Points

Deep royal purple color. Opaque only at the center. Less berry driven than the Termes with masculine force.
Charred wood, gravel and tar accompany black spices mostly pepper. Bitter chocolate roll off the back end of the nose.
Palate is very lush and approachable now though showing great potential for 5-10 year ageing.
Lush and round on the nose, though showing much more oak the the 2005. A little thinner and lighter stylistically than the '05 as well.
This was probably a sign of the vintage as a whole rather than vinifaction considering I found to be the same when comparing the '05 and '06 Termanthia.
High acidity, moderate high alcohol and tannins lead way to solid vanilla with a toasty component. Rose petals show during the last sip.
Stylistically the '05 performs better for me, though this is very nice.

1999 Bodega Numanthia Toro Numanthia 93 Points
Spain, Castilla y León, Toro
Tasted from a Magnum. Showing really nicely. A few years in the bottle has done wonders on this juice.
So refined and elegant. Has characteristics of a gorgeous Bordeaux.
Medium dark ruby. Opaque at the center but showing signs of age only around the rim -- and only slightly.
Nose reminds me a bit of a California Cult Cabernet (like the 2005) showing a few years under its belt.
Nose is a bit restrainted but has elegance and finesse. Fabric softener, baked ginger bread and soft cinnamon spice also on the nose.
Rustic rastpberries on the palate with more baking spice, leather and refined ruby red fruit. Flowers and cigar box also on the back end.
Spot on balance in the finish. I seriously enjoyed this wine. This has another decade of life, but it sure is singing out of the 1.5L today.
I wonder if I would have enjoyed this bottling as much if I had tasted it upon release...?
