• 2007 Maison Bertrand Ambroise Corton-Charlemagne

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru

  Clean, rich, and opulent. Bright yellow citrus fruit and firm acidity. Tense palate. Sulfur traces. Very nice - surprisingly good versus my expectations.

  High pitched, ripe red fruits. Forward, with a hard, tannic, but somewhat empty and disconnected middle. Young and hard to read.

• 2007 Maison Bertrand Ambroise Corton-Le Rognet

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru

  Big wine, with a round, earthy, mineral component. Rustic and almost Grenache-like. More pinot on the palate - firm and tense but with a full midpalate. Very nice.

  France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru

  Rich, Vosne-like spice. Full, but pretty and voluptuous if not particularly big. Firm structure. Very nice.

  Rustic wine. Bright but somewhat muted red fruit. Really firm palate. Some cola notes. Nice wine, but a step below the Pruliers.

  Ripe dark fruits and earth notes. Firm. Some warmth in the middle. Fine structure. Heady. Nice wine.

  Pure, crisp, and heady. Red and black fruit, spice, and some alcoholic heat. Tense. Lacks distinction, but enjoyable.

  A bit bubble gummy in its youth. Heady, with floral and spice notes, and showing little Echezeaux earthiness. Firm but full. Enjoyable.

  Black fruit and spice. Tarry notes. Firm and tannic, but nicely lush. Raw structure, but racy fruit. Very nice.

  Dense and surprisingly red-fruited. Hard, raw structure, and some oak. Full, deep fruit. Lots of character. Very nice.

  Full and super ripe for an '04. Orange-laced fruit. Tangy, but hard to see this one lasting long. Tropical fruit. Enjoyable.

  A bit of sulfur/flint. Firm and balanced, with yellow fruits and a butterscotch component that seems more ripeness than oak-driven. Juicy acids. Nice balance. Very good.

  Really clean - almost too much so. Surprisingly layered. Well balanced with a raw, tannic, undercurrent. Not sure where the Dugat controversy comes bases on this bottle. Promising.

  Another really nice showing of this wine. Surprisingly sweet for a '94. Very full, and while ready can certainly last. Round mouthfeel and nice balance. Very nice wine.

  Meaty red fruits, with '06 transparency. Firm with raw tannins, but a clear core of fruit in reserve. Medium body. Some candied riper notes in the middle. Balanced for a young wine. Very nice.
