Limited tasting notes written as I came into the tasting 3/4 of the way through. The hosts were nice enough to let me start at the beginning on my own!
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet
Awesome and funky. Rich well extracted tropical fruit. Lots of earth, pineapple, coconut and light burnt caramel. Long finish. Beautiful bottling from Carillon. An exceptional deal for under $50.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Gorgeous extraction of ripe dark gold fruit, yellow flowers and shrooms. Minerality builds on the back end of the palate. Fantastic finish. Mouth coating yet beautifully elegant and feminine.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Bombastard of a Burgundy. Full throttle fruit and earth with the elegance of a snow queen. Round lush and hedonistic. Guava, kiwi, pineapple, vanilla, honey. Pure ocean breeze clean finish.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru
Full throttle freshly picked cranberries straight out of the ground still covered in lush alive dirt. Rose petals laced with rich meaty smoke and white and black pepper. Stunning experience...my first from Les Cras.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin
Awesome length. Some solid tannic backbone. Very nice forest floor, violets and fresh moss right off the tree. Beautiful acidity and with a super silky smooth finish.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru
Red WOTD. Astounding Burg with refined super grip on the back end. Super terroir driven showing the essence of this Premier Cru. Enormous spicy mullberries, cranberries and barnyard straw.
Fresh zesty coconut, yellow fruit. Very very nice. Best effort of this style I've experienced. Lightly roasted nuts and laser like focus. Glorious acidity but still lush and opulent on the palate. A treat and in my opinion, worth the coin.
Super unique on the nose. Herbacious mint leaf, super bay leaf aromas as well. Burnt rubber palate with dark cherries. Compelling and a great conversation piece.
More reserved than the '04 San Valentino but still wonderfully structured. Nice fruit driven elegant bottling showing endless layers of flowers fruit and terroir.
