This has got to be one of the better values when it comes to American wines. With just a hint of sweetness, this wine shines in its spices and floral notes. Even more impressive, there is a bright acidity to this wine, so rare in Gewurz. Easily worth the $9, and a great treat with the carrot soup.
11/26/09: I really can't believe how well this wine is cruising along. Not hints of oxidation, this is still full of fresh melon flavors. At this point, Tablas, might be my favorite Californian producer. Tried later in the evening and it was fading, but you can't really complain for an 8 year old Cali White. 91
6/26/09: I'm pretty shocked how well this bottle is cruising along. Upon opening, had a little bit of that caramal/butterscotch thing going on. But this kept getting better over the course of about 5 hours. By the end of the bottle, there's no way I would have thought this was an 8 year old white from California. Terrific fruit, full of melons and light tropical notes. Rich, with my only complaint being a wish for a tad more acidity. But this was going strong, and a beautiful bottle of wine. 91
