  • 2006 Belle Pente Pinot Noir Murto Vineyard 91 Points

USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Dundee Hills

nose: really good nose filled with ripe cherry tones, red fruits, spices and bits of plum. A bit more california in style then I normally prefer from oregon, but this nose is well balanced while being on the ripe side

taste: very silky feel with plush tones of red fruits, red cherries, and spice tones

overall: really good feel and aromas. This is completely ready to go now as its more on the forward side of things but is well balanced and not over the top

  • 2006 Belle Pente Pinot Noir Belle Pente Vineyard 90 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton

very rich and bright nose filled with raspberries, red fruits, and bits of chocolate flakes. Good smooth feel with rich tones of bright red cherries, raspberries, and red fruits with nice medium acidity. Good weight and fruit, this is fully ready to drink now like a good amount of other oregon 06s. Fairly well balanced to go with the brighter fruit, but still retains an oregon sensibility

  • 2005 Belle Pente Pinot Noir Estate Reserve 92 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton

attractive dark nose with rich and cool tones of dark red fruits, tart cherry tones, mixed berries and bits of raspberries. Good depth that add some nice intrigue with its more cool nature. Excellent polished feel with well balanced tones of dark red fruits, various red cherry tones, and mixed berries. Nice tart acidity and some slight tannins accompany the well balanced tones. Could still slightly use a bit more time, but is accesible now with a decant

  • 2006 Belle Pente Pinot Noir Estate Reserve 91 Points

    USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Yamhill-Carlton

nose: very tart nose filled with cherries, mixed berries, bits of spices and round tones of plum. Fairly plush and relatively forward on the nose, but still retains its oregonian sensibility

taste: well balanced with medium acidity providing tones of tart cherries, plums, and spices

overall: a very nice and relatively forward wine. Fairly typical of the good 06 oregon pinots as it is well put together with plentiful fruit and good expression. Not disjointed like some other 06s that I've come across and while forward it is still fairly oregon

taste: smooth feel with very pronounced acidity at this time with tones of dark berries, black cherries, and earthen tones

overall: the acidity is a bit much at this time and holds back some of the potential on this right now. With a bit more downtime this should emerge as a real good value

taste: very rich with a good full bodied feel of black cherries, spices and bits of anise

taste: very polished feel with medium+ acidity that flows well into tones of spices, red currants, red cherries and lovely tones of mixed berries

overall: a very attractive pinot that needs a little more time to let its seductive side fully come out. It's definitely drinking right now and is very pretty, but just seems like there is a bit more to give

  • 2006 El Molíno Pinot Noir 91 Points

    USA, California, Napa Valley

overall: a very pretty pinot that has a nice undertatement to it. There is a cool and laid back feel to this that makes it inviting and attractive. While there is certainly fruit on this, this is not a wine that will fully impress a more in your face crowd as it asks more to be dealt with kid gloves in a sense

Flight 5 - Unti (6 Notes)

  • 2006 Unti Vineyards Grenache 90 Points

USA, California, Sonoma County, Dry Creek Valley

taste: excellent medium feel with good tones of red fruits, dark red cherries, and red licorice. Good depth and firm tannins that are slightly unforgiving at this early time

overall: This is very enjoyable. The tannins are on the hard side right now, but when they shed, this should be a real great expression of domestic grenache

USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder

nose: very rich and heavy nose of oak, dark red cherries, cranberries, anise and some hints of bell pepper. Almost brooding and the oak seems to hide back what could be some real nice expressive fruit tones

taste: good smooth medium feel with some nice tones of dark red cherries, cranberries, bits of bell pepper and some hints of floral tones. Nice medium tannins

  • 2005 Rubissow Merlot Mt. Veeder 91 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder

nose: real silky nose with some nuanced tones of florals, red cherries, berries, and spice tones. Not delicate, but certainly has a nuanced feel to it that makes it very attractive

taste: silky and elegant medium feel that has some fairly big tannins. Rich and deep tones of red cherries, mixed berries, and spices all blend well together

overall: This has a lot of promise, but some of the tones are hidden under some fairly big tannins. An excellent nose that has real nice depth to it and is fairly expressive at this young stage

Post a Comment / Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Report Issue

  • 2005 Rubissow Les Trompettes 88 Points

USA, California, Napa Valley, Mt. Veeder

nose: very nice nose of dark berries, dark red cherries, red berries and nice tones of red and black currants. well balanced with good tones, but not really blowing away with depth or expression

taste: nice elegant and smooth medium feel with nice tones of dark red cherries, red berries and a mix of red and black currants. Nice depth, but the tannins interfere a bit much and are more of the drying type

overall: a really nice wine that gets killed a bit by the tannins on the back end. There is a nice elegance to the wine that is obviously helped by the cab franc in it, of course the cab franc also adds some of the drying tannins that detract from the wine too.
