If you want to go for super-value instead of super-stars, this is also a good vintage, as some of the smaller producers did better than usually. The 2005 Louis Bernard at around $28 is good value for short-term drinking. The 2005 Feraud-Brunel at $30 is also a great value wine and it will also evolve nicely for another 2-3 years, and then drink well for another 5-7 after that. Another great value for immediate indulgence is the 2005 Les Bartavelles, at around $34. You can also easily cellar it for 10 years. All these wines require some decent aeration if you want to drink them now, but they are downright delicious. And all of them can go into your cellar for up to 10 years and impress the living life out of your guests after 5-7 years of aging. That is not so easy to do with wines in the $28-35 range. On the other hand, if you buy in the $90 range (which, in Bordeaux these days, usually gets you a simple, small producer wine), you can go for something stellar, like the Domaine de la Mordoree Cuvee de la Reine des Bois. This is wine at its best. You need to cellar if for 5-7 years, and then you will have another 20 years of pleasure. This is not that easy to achieve for less than $100 these days.
