Well June has been a horrible month for wine buys and the market so I decided to travel for the 4th early to the Hamptons.  I went to my NYC cellar and out I poppped a newly arrived Chateau de Valandraud.  I would strongly recommend buying this wine.  It was outrageously good.  I posted a note on it and I hope some of you get this St Emilion beauty in your cellar.  It eased my discomfort.

Wow.  A 94 from Tanzer and an 84 from Gillman... and a $300 price tag.  Youch.

I have a feeling that your review is better than Gillman's but is the price worth it for us mere mortals that aren't in the wine trade?

This wine in ten yrs will be unreal..........its very very good.  The tannins are the only thing holding the score down...........when they mellow you have a first growth quality wine. Compared to what I paid for Ausone at EP this is a relative bargain.  In absolutes, I agree this wine is expensive but relatively speaking to its peer group it is a good value considering how the 2005-2007 Bdx pricing structure is now in the statosphere.

I know lots of men drinking $300 bottles and boasting about it on every wine board they post, as they think those bottles add inches to their d...., but why women do this is beyond me.

Princess, please make me understand you better.
Did you come from the poor family and never been exposed to money before your marriage?
Does word nuovo riche ring a bell?

Now, prove me you not just a nuovo riche and tell me about the wine you discovered on your own,
no critics involved, just you bought something on the hunch.

This will impress me more than all those $300 bottles.

..and while you are at it,
what exactly is "First Growth Quality Wine"? You can either use your own words or words of critics you can point me to. I say that this phrase is absolutely meaningless and I bet you won't be able to come up with undisputable definition what it means.

WHICH market?

Oils went up thru the roof,
so did corn. Commodities push all times highs, the commodity markets did extreamly well and so did major currencies against the US dollar.

For the future,
THINK what you post before you hit the submit button, as you probably noticed,
I take immerse pleasure correcting your inaccuracies, mis-statements, innuendoes.

I also went through a 2001 Jordan and 2003 Caymus.  Followed those up with a sticky from 2005.  I will post notes later today.  Tonight I think I will open some OWC and bust out some QPRs from 05.

Natural selection?

This is funny coming from somebody who artificially inseminates horses for a living.
