Eric et al, A number of my more CT edit request and forum posts (eg http://www.cellartracker.com/forum/Sandhill_dupes_and_errors/m_33299/tm.htm) have been for wines from producers that have changed either the branding (designation), vineyard name or appellation of a particular wine. In this situation, you end up with all the vintages up to a particular year with one designation / vineyard / appellation, and then all the vintages after that year with a different designation / vineyard / appellation. Inevitably, people ended up mistagging their bottles, with new vintages incorrectly tagged with old designations / vineyards / appellations, or vice versa... and we end up with tonnes of mistagged duplicates. My simple suggestion for cutting down on this problem would be "locking" of allowed vintages for wines that are known to have been discontinued, renamed, etc. This seems like more of an administrative function than a user function, although perhaps you could have a option for users to suggest a vintage locking for a particular wine, along with a justification of why it's necessary. I think that in the long run, this type of feature would cut down on the volume of duplicate squashing for admins. I'm interested to know what people think about this... Francis
