Everyones looking for it.
Could this list be useful?
Can't personally vouch for it, but it's worth a look:

I have only had a couple of the reds, all of which were easy drinking but forgettable.

However, I swear by the Chateau La Rose du Pin Bordeaux Blanc.  $10, not overly complex, but a really well made and consistent wine that has been one of our go-to white wines for the last year or so.  I only have one note on it, but it is one of my most consumed wines.

Thanks for the tip, could be the white equivalent of my Norton Privada.
I too had only heard of a few of the wines.
May buy these two just to see if anyone thinks they're connected to the 'near'-namesakes:
Lafite Reserve Speciale Bordeaux Blanc
Château Cheval Brun.

whew! Now I don't feel so bad.

but I think I'll keep a lookout for some of those Right Bankers
The Sauternes from Freixenet should be easy to get here, too.

Thanks, CL.

We get Chateau de Seguin in Finland, which used to be my "Bordeaux" of choice before I got into wine seriously. Hasn't impressed me recently though...

I bought a bottle of the 05 not too long ago at Trader Joe's.  Here's my TN:

2005 Château de Seguin (France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur)  6/18/2008rloomis83funky black wood and low key fruit with lots of malic acid. decanted vigorously to settle down the sour acidity. bitter blk tea tannic finish. disjointed, unbalanced, dull fruit -- but past it all, rather drinkable after a good thrashing in the decanter. Since I have a decidedly cru bourgeois budget, you can get my TN's on Bordeaux which with only a few exceptions were all pretty cheap using a link like this:
http://www.cellartracker.com/list.asp?Country=France&Region=Bordeaux&iUserOverride=26738&Table=NotesProducer

Just change the number in the UserOverride= part to switch to another user who really knows something about Bordeaux.

I too work very hard to find those little affordable gems that allow me to drink fairly well on a limited budget.

A couple producers I would recommend that are not on the list are Chateau Cantelys ($20-$30 depending on vintage, thier Blanc is excellent too) and Chateau Fourcas Hosten (typically $15-$30, but I think the 05 went up pretty significantly).

Chateau Conseiller 2005 is a pretty good bottle for the price.

The Liversan is a very good Bordeaux that is a mainstay in the in-laws cellar.  They get about 10 cases a year.

Give it 3-5 years before opening - good, classic, medium bodied Bordeaux.  The antithesis of the parker-point chasing slut wines out there.

Glad to hear I am not alone on the Fourcas Hosten.  I haven't had the 05, but I had a brief love affair with the 2003 over the last year.  Really excellent stuff for the money.

10 cases?!?  Does your wife have a sister?

Yes she does.  Unfortunately for you she is also a lesbian.

French lesbians?  A cellar full of wine?  Sounds like something Serge would dream up.

I see Fourcas Dupre 2003 is noted as 26-28 dollar wine. Funny, as I bought a half-case recently at 8 dollars per bottle. And Patache d'Aux is around 15$ here.

Perhaps I should buy a few more cases?

I'm drinking a glass of 2005 Lafont-Fourcat as I write this:  http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=276302

Doesn't seem to be a Bordeaux too many of you have, but I think it has great fruit and structure.  And the price?-- $10.39 USD

I would venture to guess that there is not a CA cab for double the price out there that can compete with this wine.

If anyone else can find it, please try it and let me know how you feel.  I wish I had bought more.

Craig

I have found many 2005 petite chateau to be terrific bargains, and the quality way above what California produces at the same price point. Most of the stuff we get up here is from Ex Cellars, and Milhaude (SP), but I've been fairly impressed with the quality. Not sure how to do list, but here's a try:
