Hi Eric, a little pickle here:

Alain Brumont Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Vendémiaire has also been listed Alain Brumont Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh Octobre. These are the same wine - Vendémiaire was the name for Octobre during the French revolution, both versions are labelled on the bottle.

There are also different sweetness levels with this dessert wine - at least two, Doux and Sec, if I am not wrong. There are entries without the sweetness level put in. Not sure how you would want to deal with this though!

Cheers,
Paul

Vendémiaire is the preferred designation per the Brumont web site. It's an "October wine" meaning that it's made from grapes harvested in October. "Moelleux d’octobre" is more of a description: as if he said "a dessert wine made from grapes harvested in October," only in shorthand.

Brumaire is his "moelleux de Novembre" (the grapes have raisined more than in October), and Frimaire is his "moelleux de décembre" (rarer wine made in "exceptional years").

All three of the above -- Vendémiaire, Brumaire, and Frimaire -- are Pacherenc du Vic Bilh doux, and all are under Château Boucassé label.

Brumont's primary Pacherenc du Vic Bilh sec is under his Château Montus label. [EDIT] He also has one under Boucassé that is clearly labelled "Pacherenc Sec." Neither has the monthly designation.

In CT doux is apparently the default for the appellation with "Sec" being added to a separate one.

Oh yeah, they're all Petit Manseng (not white blends).

Cleaned up. And some more as well.

There is also another PdV-B Sec called "Les Jardins de Boucassé " which is 100% Petit Corbu. It was already seperate in CT.

Thanks,

A.

I suspect I may end up changing the producer to Brumont. They list the production under Ch. Boucasse, but that doesn't appear on the front label at all.

Thanks,

A.

Probably for the best, as long as there's consistency.

I found some of the Brumaire marked as Madiran, which of course can't be correct as Madiran is red, dry, and Tannat and the records indicate white, sweet, and Petit Mansing. I've entered an edit request.
