Hi Eric The appellation in question is: France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Coteaux du Layon Chaume In recent years the name has changed, first to Chaume, Premier Cru des Coteaux du Layon and then to Chaume. I have written about this online here: http://www.thewinedoctor.com/regionalguides/loireanjousaumur1.shtml These aren't new appellations, as far as I understand the process it was a renaming to reflect the different (more stringent) appellation regulations when compared to the other Coteaux du Layon communes. It would be wrong to replace Coteaux du Layon Chaume with either of the above options, because many people will still have those bottles in their cellars, but without the new options I'm entering my recently purchased bottles of Chaume under the old Coteaux du Layon name. I would have thought the two appellation names above need to be added as new options. I could try and find out which vintages they each apply to if that would help (perhaps it could be included in the appellation options when building a new wine?).
