Hey guys - I want someone who really knows wines from Champagne well to get everything straightened out with Ruinart's wines on CT. If I am not mistaken, Ruinart has two general classifications of their wines (outside of their "R" line, which I won't bother messing with here) -- "Ruinart" and "Dom Ruinart" -- the latter being their prestige cuvee (their vintage wines), and the former being their nonvintage standard wines. They make a blanc de blancs and a rose (both sparkling wines) for both their Ruinart and Dom Ruinart lines, along with a regular ol' "Champagne" in their NV Ruinart line. If this is incorrect, please correct what I'm saying in this thread. Anyway, it seems that people have gotten these lines very mixed up, along with the pictures of their bottles/labels for multiple vintages. Check this out: http://www.cellartracker.com/list.asp?fInStock=1&Table=List&iUserOverride=0&szSearch=ruinart and you'll see that there are a bunch of vintage "Ruinart" wines along with a bunch of the same vintages of "Dom Ruinart", which I think are one and the same. This goes for both their Blanc de Blancs and their Brut Roses. In addition, there are a bunch of vintage "champagnes" which I think should be vintage Blanc de Blancs, as unless I am mistaken again, Ruinart does not make Prestige cuvee/vintage "champagnes" with anything other than chardonnay. I don't know how better to explain all of this or verbalize it, but it seems like the Ruinart wines are all mixed up in CT, and it all needs cleaning up. Can anyone else here speak more concisely to explain exactly what's wrong with the way the Ruinarts are listed?
