As a staunch Libertarian, far be it from me to imply a censure of anyone, but is this where this argument should unfold?  How about we let the beloved democratic process take place.  Will you respect the wishes of the CT community, Z?  Let's see the results

Fingers, can you amend the poll and include my
movie clips,
short jokes,
etc in it?

I don't want zip feel singled out, and if my NWRs bother the majority -
I'll refrain from posting them.

Though I don't have interest in the 9/11 Conspiracy talk, I do believe you should have freedom to post whatever you wish. Like others (Serge, Colonel), I sometimes post pics, movies, jokes etc.that are NWR and so it's difficult to single someone out.

I choose not to read anymore of  Zippz posts regarding 9/11. As long as others reply then there must be some interest and the posts will continue. If there is no interest then the thread will die just like others.

Wine is also about interesting, profound, funny, and sometimes heated conversation and like any conversation you can choose not to continue anytime!

Prost!

J2K, no arguments from me except...when one posts the same things in several threads-
this is a borderline obscession and unhealthy

The phrase "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" is widely attributed to Voltaire, but cannot be found in his writings. With good reason. The phrase was invented by a later author as an epitome of his attitude. It appeared in The Friends of Voltaire (1906), written by Evelyn Beatrice Hall under the pseudonym S[tephen] G. Tallentyre. ...
Hall wrote:
...The men who had hated [the book], and had not particularly loved Helvétius, flocked round him now. Voltaire forgave him all injuries, intentional or unintentional. 'What a fuss about an omelette!' he had exclaimed when he heard of the burning. How abominably unjust to persecute a man for such an airy trifle as that! 'I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it,' was his attitude now.

That's a rather  long winded way of saying I voted against the motion - "Get this crap out of our wine forums"
The question also failed in a referendum sense in that the options were by no means mutually exclusive.

And if that didn't persuade try:

"First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me."

Pastor Martin Niemöller

CL -  Eric is the only one that could take away Zippz right to say it.  I just thought this a simple and easy way to sway Mr. Z to change the subject, without waiting for the "ignorance" of his posts to take effect.  To me, this subject relates to the "What brought you to the forums?" thread.  Many mentioned the lack of contentious tone that other boards have so I would hope we can keep it that way.

tried to edit poll to remove the term "crap" since it seems to have influenced the voters.  Unfortunately, i couldn't make the edit work so we're stuck with it.

Totally with you on maintaining the CT tone, and allowing Eric peaceful nights.
I'll be trying to be slower to throw stones in our glass house though.
Cheers,
L.

fingers... I can say this with no doubt...
you have at least one major character flaw bud.
And boy did you let it shine with this thread/poll.
What harm has come to you, to merit such a PMS-like reaction?
I can't image having such a tissy fit over anything...
you've really made a mountain out of an ant hill here.
What are you so scared of? Maybe people might start thinking for themselves?
There is more to life then wine, you know?
There is for instance:
1. wine and cheese
2. wine and sports
3. wine and sex
4. wine and debate
5. wine and work
6. wine and wine
... maybe you should order another case of #3 ?

Please, I really don't want to have to censure. Let's just keep things nice and, yes, wine focused.

Here's an idea Eric... lets censor or ban all NWR threads... for those were the threads that i thought Not Wine Related topics could be freely explored/discussed and while were at it  (for extra measure/insurance) let's give fingers the coveted "Conversation Police Badge" at the approaching Seattle Pow Wow and for his stellar efforts of keeping us all on puritanical topics... let's all pitch in and get him a blow-up doll and some mary jane.

NWR is not the end of the world, although I would hope the bulk of discussions would tie back somehow to food, wine, cellaring etc. I think that political discussion is the thing that leads us down a dark spiral. I really don't want to have a heavy hand with regard to moderation if it can be avoided. Let's just avoid the politics please.

I hope your happy fingers, you and your sheeple, have successfully silenced a voice of thoughtful reason on a very dire subject that has this country on a course of self destruction.

In reflection of all the ignorant infantile replies i have received (this one crowns them all) as the head administrator of CTland, i would imagine it to be a nightmarish headache to please all the drama queens of this forum...so to this end, out of respect of Eric's wishes and task... I will curb my tongue for the feeble minded.

I suppose the lesson I have learned is that such heavy subject matters require a certain level of maturity that isn't found here... better to keep it light and happy for all the children, mental midgets, simpletons and the intellectually lazy .
For those of you who are offended... evolve or grow up.

in sum... cry babies rule!!! ...in the land of grapes and honey.
these are very sour grapes for me to digest
no wonder the world is so f*cked up
C'est la vie

Politics are great to debate, and I am always happy to do so in person. But on a wine forum, it is too problematic. I understand that this might disappoint some, but I need to draw the line somewhere.
