I guess Clos Du Val has been spending time on the casting couch lately. I've spotted their bottles in several movies. It's been quite easy since the label was prominently displayed.

Forgetting Sarah Marshal- A lot of screen time at a dinner scene.
Shopgirl- Pretty quick shot at the label
Bottle Shock- Another label shot as Steve Spurrier puts a bottle on the counter. Though its a movie about wine the only other label shown is Chat. Montelena (which is what most of the movie revolves around so it's expected).

A friend also said he saw CDV in a Soprano's episode.

I've have seen CDV in the wine store but never drank it. Is this a Hollywood wine or just promotion??

I've had CDV once in my life and liked it.  I remember it as being a scaled-back, more Bordelaise-style cab.  I only have one bottle of it, though, in my cellar.  It never gets good ratings and may be one of the quality CA cabs that gets left out because it is not overextracted (at least the vintage I tried).  It has a nice label for the movies though.

Clos Du Val '72 Cab was in the Paris tasting and placed 8th out of 10.  One of the early boutique wineries started by a descendants of Guestier and Beycheville in the early '70s.  I'm not sure of their ownership now because I see the wine everywhere - as if it were a Constellation brand.  Seems to be a higher-end house wine at many restaurants & hotels here.

The wife and I have always been Clos du Val fans (partly because my wife's name is Valerie ), and I have never really understood why they get such low ratings.  I will say that they are slightly overpriced considering quality, but the wine is never bad.  We had an 04 Cab from them not to long ago that I think I put in the high 80's and they gave it a 70.  WTF?

You know where I see their bottles featured the most?  Pottery Barn stores.  They are always a part of thier displays.
