Shopping at Esquin in Seattle last night, they had a display of 2003 Zaca Mesa Syrah from Santa Ynez Valley. $17 a bottle, I thought WTF, Why not? Popped and poured with some pizza at home and we enjoyed it more than we had a right to. Great spicy nose, dark complex fruit, most importantly a total lack of heat on the finish. Not a revolutionary wine, and not the best cool climate Syrah around, but definitely a great bargain at $17. Highly recommened.
