I am a big fan of some of their wines.  I really like their Sangiovese, David, and Cabernet in Colbert French Oak.  They also make great Port, unfortunately by the end of their tour I was too toxindicated to remember which one it was that I liked.

Tell her to make sure she eats before she goes, and sip and toss unless she's using a car service or cab--you try a good 10-12 barrel samples, and they aren't skimpy.

Is she going to the original caves on Atlas Peak or the new Castle on the highway?  I haven't been to the Castle yet, but the hand dug original caves are really something.  I'm looking forward to going back there in February!

I am a big fan of Del Dotto. They make a wide cross section of very good wines, by my standards consistently 88-95. The David, a meritage is consistently good, as are their ports, their Giovanni Tuscan blend (sangiovese and cab), their Howell Mountain and their Rutherford Cabs. They made a small amout of a very good Chardonnay and a very nice Pinot from vineyards they acquired from Smith on the Sonoma Coast.

The Cave tour is one of the best for education in blending and the use of oak, but the tours have appropriately earned them the nick name Del Blotto from the locals

Well this should be interesting.  I gave a price range to spend to my daughter, she met up with Greg, the person there I spoke with who had an Idea of what I like etc.. so between the two if them, I have a package coming in a cpl weeks. I have no Idea what they bought at this point, daughter wont be home until monday, and I suspect one of the bottles is from a single barrel bottling they were doing in the next cpl days, so wish me luck, hopefully some of it will be ready to try..
