Hello CThounds,

If you learned chaps were permitted one bottle of wine before the grim reaper finally caught up with you which bottle would you pour into your Riedels?

2000 Cheval Blanc, I can't recall wine which made bigger impression on me.

Of course, it is possible to have a desert island wine away from such a place! I suppose, keeping with the premise, the only food would be that already on the island or what had been washed on shore from the ship/plane wreck?

Okay,

Given the likelihood that I will be eating seafood (and certainly not a roast), my preference would be for a Corton Charlemagne. I had a '78 Bichot a couple of years ago that was superb. I am certain another vintage would do in a pinch.

If it was one bottle from my cellar probably the 2000 Margaux, hoping that i'd been able to try the 2001 Yquem beforehand. If it was any then a 1982 Bordeaux, perhaps the grim reaper can decide between Petrus and the other first growths.

Bit of a dark question though when you start thinking about it....

Don't know if this is any good, but at least it can keep you company:

2003 Red Car Syrah All Night Radio

I guess the only thing better would be "Two-Way Radio"

One bottle of my choice before I die?--1990 DRC Romanee Conti or Ta Tache-- though I would prefer that the same wines from 2030 were coming into maturity before I face that issue

Make that 2 votes for 1990 La Tache. Far and away the best wine I ever had.

I think I would have to go for the 1990 Margaux. A dear friend who is no longer with us shared a bottle with me a few years ago. Just thinking about it now with all of my consumption since tells me how lucky I was to have experienced that bottle.

Another vote for the La Tache. I would settle for the DRC 2002 RSV as well - not very picky.
