I know it's not over yet, but how 'bout some nods for favorite wine of the year so far?

Criteria:
-Any vintage
-Best QPR
-Biggest surprize

So far I'd have to say Madrigal 2003 Petite Sirah, Napa Valley impressed me the most. I bought 2 cases @ $20/btl. Think I gave it a 93.

Hmm... QPR and surprise make it a pretty narrow band, so much of the good wine in Singapore is also expensive wine. I guess the top wine to fit into your criteria would be several bottles of Jacques Cacheux's Echezeaux.

My favourite wine that I have drunk this year was a 1985 Grand Mayne or a 2003 Pago de los Capellanes Ribera del Duero Reserva http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=497971.

Best QPR?  I managed to buy a bottle of 1994 Y'quem in a shop in France -  they had it priced at 35 euros.  I think it would be fair to say they had the wrong price on it.

Why do these things never happen to me? Just heard a story of someone who got 3 bottles of Janasse VV 2005 delivered to instead of the straight Janasse. Difference of something like $100 per bottle.

I would have felt guilty if it was some small shop but it was a huge supermarket.

The best one was my mother in law went to buy a case of Margaux from the same supermarket a few years ago.  The girl on the checkout scanned one bottle and assumed it was the price for the whole case.   11 free bottles of Margaux.

I think there was a thread about doing this officially for CT users at the end of the year.

My favorite wine so far this year was the 2004 Don Melchor Cab.
