I want to draw your attention to a Sicilian wine that I think is very exciting.

It is the "Firriato Nero d'Avola Harmonium".

It has had consistently good vintages since 2000. The 2000 is now singing and at its peak. The 2004 is quite nice and may become the best of the lot.

It is not very cheap, but it is very very special.

You can read my TN on the 2000 vintage here.

Hey Paul! Take it as an exercise in strengthening will power, the power to resist temptations....

Now, how much money is left in my account...

All the wine that I previously bought on Maestros recommendation has already gone down to just one bottle left.

I only bought a case about 3 weeks ago.

I offer a complete and utter retraction.
The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future...

To make sure your wallets are safe, I will switch to recommending this kind of wine from now on:

I really appreciate the guidance you give on Italian wines.  Your palate seems similar to mine and I know diddly squat about these wines so I find you very helpful, even if you cause damage to the wallet

RoundersRob is correct.

I would rather over spend on good wine than underspend on bad wine.

Maestro,

I was first introduced to the flight of Firriato wines here in SF about a 18 months ago and picked up 3 bottles of the harmonium.   When I crawl into my cellar, I see that lovely label staring at me to taste, but my cellar tracker report says...not yet...don't do it.

I concur with your recommendation of harmonium especially when you can get a 15% discount at the sicilian wine tasting..hehe.

Thanks, Maestro!!!!!  I just love your recommendations.

First it was a case of 2003 Di Majo Norante Anglianico, then a few bottles of 2004 Pio Cesare Barolo, and now I found a GREAT DEAL on this Charles Shaw Wine.  I bought 6 cases each of the Cabernet and the Merlot.... You'd never believe what I payed... Ya-hoooo.

Thanks, Maestro!!!!!!

You may safely open the first bottle of the 04 Harmonium now. With a little aeration it will not disappoint. Then you can watch as the other two develop positively in the next 5 years or so.

But of course you may also hold on to them. It is just at the beginning of its drinking window.

Well, you can use the bottles for skeet shooting…
