I was in Birmingham to day on business and saw a Costco so I went in to see what they had wine wise.  I got to speak to the wine manager and he told me they had a lot of wine still from 05 available.  Boy did they.............I went over and the first thing I see is Malescot St Exupery 18 bottles staring at me............they had Cos Pavie D'Yquem Brainaire Ducru,  Gomerie and Le Gaffelière, Montrose Laforge Fleur Cardinale Pontet Canet all 05..............needless to say I loaded up..............

You are extremely lucky to find all of those wines in a single Costco store on the same day!  I must have stopped by the local Costco at least once a week over the last 6+months just to get some of those.  However, the 05s were priced high to start with so lets hope they don't go below initial futures price.

While we are talking about Costco, anyone know why it has high end Bordeaux but not Burgundy?  I would love to see bottles of 05 DRC Romanee Conti on display at Costco.  Not that I would buy one, but I would certainly ask someone to take a photo of me next to the DRC, with loads of bread as background .

Birmingham might not be the best place to quickly move high end 2005 Bordeaux futures.  Around here they disappear rather fast.  Still, at some point you have to say that enough is enough.  I'm holding off for a while, or at least until I have some more room.

Not sure about DRC, but many of the quality/high end Burgundy are made in very small quantities less than 1,000 cases if not only in hundreds.  The smallest/high end Bordeaux wines, on the other hand, are typically in several thousands.

As mentioned in another thread...I was just at a Costco here in OC, CA and found many of the first and second growths available.  Only wish I had the cash to throw down on them.  The prices were far below what most of them are going for elsewhere.
