Hi everyone!

Too many times, when I'm looking for a bottle in the cellar, I find a bottle where I tell myself that I should open it pretty soon (read: now!). Useless to say that 5mn later I forgot about that bottle.
So I was thinking would it be possible to add a feature on CT where you can highlight or put a tag on certain bottles in order to remind you that this bottles needs to be open soon.

What do you guys think?

As to me, the easiest way is to create a personal wishlist called e.g. "Drink now" and then tag a wine to this list.

I've used the wishlist tags for this purpose, too. However the problem is that the bottles don't drop off that list when you consume them so you have to keep updating it.

I to use a wish list to flag the bottles that I consider drinkable now. It is a pain to drink the last bottle, go to the wish list screen, find the bottle, and edit to deletion. Would that could have been done when I drank the last bottle on the same screen.

I put such wines in a virtual "bin" called D (even I can remember what that means), so easy to search or make a list. You can so label one, more, or all of the bottles of a particular wine. When the wine is consumer, you just "drink" the bottle in 'D' (displayed as such on the wine's page). You can easily shift remainig bottles into or out of D.

I use a method similar to cweiss, except I use the location field instead of the bin field.

I have locations like "Wine Fridge - Party" for bottles to open when I have a big crowd over, "Wine Fridge - Future" for bottles to open several years in the future, and "Wine Fridge" for bottles to open any time. Then each wine has a bin number that corresponds to its actual spot in my Wine Fridge. The majority of my wines are ready-to-drink now so I use "Wine Fridge - Future," but if you're mostly buying wines for aging you'd probably want to have "Wine Fridge - Drink" and "Wine Fridge."

You can use locations to filter a printed wine list, which is a nice benefit to this method.
