I have free time there Sunday (tomorrow) afternoon and evening as well as most of the day Monday. Any wine-related suggestions for how to spend my time?

I would seek out the Caves de la Madeleine, the shop that Steven Spurrier conducted the Judgement of Paris from.  Don't know if it's even still there, though.  I just think it would be cool to check it out.  Maybe the hotel where the tasting was done, too.  A "Bottle Shock" tour!

I've enjoyed eating at Chez Maitre Paul, where they serve interesting wines from the Jura region. The address is 12 rue Monsieur-le-Prince, St-Germain-des-Pres. I'm imagining it may be cool in Paris now, so the hearty food might be a good choice. Sante!

Go to Lavinia and get a 20 euro debit card, and choose from the 15 or so wines available as single pours; went back 3 times for the 2005 Lynch Bages the last time I was there

I know a few good hookers on Plas Pigal, both into a very kinky stuff and both like Bordeaux!
Interested!?

I am back from the vacation in Dominican republic...nice to be away from the computer once in a while.

Kermadur, 1800 - thanks; sound like just what I'm looking for

Serge - thanks; sounds expensive - hookers, bordeaux, lawyers, etc. Maybe next time.

1800 - rarely do things turn out so conveniently; looks like I'm staying literally around the corner from Lavinia.

Hi guys,

Two good things to do in the coming months in Paris:

21-22 November Le Grand Tasting : hundreds of wine to taste directly from the producer stand. (no purchases available) 18€ , master classes with producers from 10€ (I've chosen Sauternes 2004)  to 40€ (Yquem is already closed)
27-28-29-30 November Le Salon des Vignerons Indépendants : smaller producers but purchases are possible. 6€ (I'm planning to buy a horizontal of Cauhape Jurançon)

Maybe some cellartrackers will attend too

Stéphane.

The Salon Vigneron Independent is truly an exceptional event.  I've been to a couple when it was in Lille.

The most hilarious thing is seeing completely hammered French people staggering out of the event and trying to drive their car out of the car park.

You can buy some very very good wines at these events that you have no chance of buying anywhere else.

I knew my luck was too good to last. I will be in Paris exactly in between the two events! Almost worse than not being there at all. Almost.
