I get 05 EP prices from him...........on stuff.  Infact inventory he cant move I get dibs on first before a general sale.  Check CT friday night for a bottle he is Fed exing me tomorrow AM.  I will be drinking it and posting notes.  If the bottle is good I will buy all his remaining inventory at a riduculous price.  It happens Serge, maybe not to you but it happens.

Sundy,
does your husband cure Attention Deficit Disorder!?

READ Shayne's e-mail,
it was sent BEFORE the general public is alerted.
The difference between us - I just don't give rat's ass, that's all.

Now....from your horse breeder expereince,
can you tell us more about artificial horses insemination?

The wine I have access to you is not on that list and much harder to come by.  Those wines are easily found even now on the net.  You could be a horse fluffer for sure in my stable.

Murcia Sierra Carche (Spain, 96WA)

Technically "purchased" in May but I didn't get to pick it up until today. Of course, I won't be able to enjoy it for years so the wait has only just begun.

Pavie Queen,

I am a member, but not a paying subscriber.  It is a fascinating site.  For your cellar, not so much cuz they really focus on the more liquid/recent vintages.  Nothing in the 100 over 25 uears old, so not even 1982 Bordeaux are in it anymore, much less your '61's. '47s or 1900s.

Most recent purchase was 1996 Krug.  Lord, did anyone read what James Halliday wrote about this wine (aside from the 100 pt score he gave it)?  Almost as splediferous as your opus to '05 Margaux (yes, Yes, YES!!!).

Had a case of 2002 Rene Engel Vosne Romanee delivered. I'll probably sample a bottle next weekend. Opinions?

Oh and a bottle of 2003 straight Vosne from S. Cathiard.

Happy drinking indeed!

Still buying odd lots.  Just picked up two bottles of '78 Gaja Barabaresco with good provenance at auction for a very good price.  Also a mag. of '97 Thomas PN (Oregon) that I will have to drink as soon as it comes in this fall.  Probably won't last much more than a year longer but it was certainly great at a tasting last Thursday night.

Wow - well done on the purchases, especially the M Gros VR, which should ne quote a good village indeed.

One of my suppliers is having a new world sale this week, picked up the following:

2001 Howard Park Riesling x 2
1999 Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon
1998 Best's Great Western Thomson Shiraz
2004 Kooyong Ferrous Pinot Noir

Also considering a 2004 Philip Togni, but not too sure about that one.

NOTHING.... I'm on a self-imposed wine buying fast after my tear through Walla Walla a couple of weeks ago...

I did receive some Turley wine late last week but alas I'd purchased that a couple of months ago...

Looks like Burgundy is the name of the game this week!  Wouldn't have anything to do with a couple of recent threads??  Gotta admit, I've been looking at what's available here from that region, but my wine budget is spent for this month.

Thought I'd bought
  • 2005 Mitchell Riesling Watervale
  • 2005 Heartland Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 2007 Sileni Estates Sauvignon Blanc Cellar Selection
  • 2004 Finca y Bodega Carlos Pulenta Corte C Vistalba
But they haven't turned up.  We had a typhoon on Wednesday when they were meant to arrive so expected them yesterday or today - alas nothing.  Dinner guests this weekend might get lucky as I'll have to raid the fridge - Leeuwin Chardonay maybe.

A rather interesting July Sale at Farr (primarily Bordeaux dealers).
    http://www.farrvintners.com/offer.php?offerid=124
I suspect it's a response to lousy 2007 en primeur sales.

I bought an odd bunch if I say so myself:
  • 2004 Château Bellevue St. Émilion Grand Cru
  • 2000 Clos l'Église (Pomerol)
  • 2001 Clarendon Hills Shiraz Piggott Range Vineyard

Does anyone have experience of buying imperfect stock?
There's a lot that an American dealer had in Bordeaux and sold to Farr, rather than ship to US.
It should have just the American labelling and be perfect otherwise.
Obviously it would be just for wine you intended to drink (not sell on).
Was a little tempted, so would appreciate real experiences.
    L.
