Niklas, I think you will enjoy the Brocard Chablis.  Good year for whites and he's a good producer in Chablis.

Craig, in fact I did, that's why I bought another bottle! It will be for my next little chardonnay experiment. Chateau Rives-Blanques from the Limoux AOC in Languedoc is supposed to be comparable to white Burgs of good quality, at a fraction of the price (I bought the bottle for 7.25 euros). It will be interesting to see if it stands up to the Brocard.

Hey, Niklas, since you are investigating the Languedoc-roussillon, you should start a new thread about that region and keep us posted about your findings and discoveries.

Languedoc-roussillon wines are cheaper and reasonably easy to find, but very complex to assess (a few great things amongst a sea of plonk), but if you are taking upon you the trouble to investigate it, please share the knowledge.

Great idea, I'll be happy to! In fact I am about to head off for the airport to fly down to the Minervois for about a week. What a perfect place to write about it!  Check the forums in a day or two!

Yes it will.  Have you tried any chards from the Jura region?  I like Labet fleur de chardonnay if you can find it--prob 10-12 euro.

A few everyday wines, a couple of standards and two unknowns

2006 Battle of Bosworth Cab Sav
    2004 Clifford Bay Pinot Noir
    2005 Alexandria Nicole Shepherd's Mark
    2005 Hartenberg Chardonnay

Seem to have bought a lot lately; some to keep, some for the UK, some for the tasting and just everyday wines!

What did you make of the Heartlands shiraz?  Obviously way too young at the moment, but I usually find aussie shiraz a bit too much.

Only bought it this week, so can't comment.
It should have some of these characteristics:
"slightly more forward than 2005, a bit more expressive aromatically......offers a similar, structured personality."
"plush black currant and plum fruit. Vibrant acidity ......... dark chocolate oak and firm, fine tannins provide a solid frame"
"ripe shiraz fruit with plenty of sweet oak folded into the mix........ supple sweetness comes from all angles with a stripe of toasty oak spliced throughout"
For <$30 I'd settle for finding half of the above.
    Drank these - http://www.cellartracker.com/forum/m_23037/mpage_7/tm.htm
May try one Heartlands 2006 soon, but most are for 2010 and beyond.

Not much but a local wine store did have 1996 Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne Brut Rosé Cuvée Palmes d'Or for $49.99 a bottle.  A great price for around here so I bought 3 bottles (all they would let me have).

Well I guess I've spent enough on their CD's and concerts over the years so I'll buy the wine, too.

From the lead singer of Tool,  Maynard James Keenan

2005 Caduceus Cellars Nagual de la Naga

2005 Caduceus Cellars Nagual del Sensei

two of each.  one to drink.  one to ebay when someone in the band dies or does something newsworthy

Seriously?  I had no idea he was making wines.  Everyone's a winemaker these days.

Yeah, apparently the vineyards are in Arizona but this '05 first release is from California fruit.  He' very serious about it, though.  I will watch for the new vineyard product which should be out next spring with '07 vintage.

Who's next, Rage Against The Machine?  System Of A Down?  Korn?

I am trying to curtail my buying and I am getting closer.  But every once in a while, I find something that I just have to have like 2 more bottles of 1997 Fattoria di Sant'Angelo (Lisini) Brunello di Montalcino.

I need my internet to go down for about six months.

Had a ball at the Gorman Winery release party last weekend.

Bought new vintages of "The Bully" and "Evil Twin".

While we were in the neighborhood, we also stopped in at Senoj, Cuillan Hills and Guardian...And made purchases at all three additional wineries...

Love living in an area where you can go wine-tasting pretty much whenever you want!!

The Guardian juice is pretty darn good isn't it! It's a bit of a jaunt up there for me, but been meaning to get up there and visit them, Mark Ryan, etc. instead of only having it all shipped.

Surprised to see sale, $14.00, on '04 Il Molino di Grace Chianti Classsico, at Klwines.com. I just purchased it, or course, but have decided to get some more. Nice wine for the $.
