Good work Craig.  Now it's time to book the flights and hotel.  I like that there are hotels within stumbling distance.

Eric - are you going to have maybe an evening meet and greet at your place on the Friday evening?  (providing that there are not too many people)

Now I just need to pick the wine to bring..  new or old??  95 Angelus or 04 Opus?  04 Angelus or 90 Opus?   hmmmmmm...  so many choices.

Yes, that is part of the plan.

Can we utilize the CT Paypal account once we have a total cost?

Yes, once we sort out costs, liability etc PayPal will certainly one easy way to get funds to me.

That is what I'm hoping for, especially as I do not have the funds to front the whole thing.  Most of the bills do not need to be paid for until right before the event so we would know who would be coming at that point.

I'll have to talk to Eric about this.  It could be an accounting nightmare for him.
Craig

SEE above.  Eric is two steps ahead of me!!!!

I am less concerned about the accounting aspects of this, much more concerned about any liability issues around charging $$ to cover costs (venue, food, glassware) for a BYO event.

I have spoken to Lisa at UH about this and she assured me that this will not be a problem.  She gave me a link (which I left in my office yesterday) for a company in Seattle which does this sort of thing.  She said the cost is generally under $200 and provides something like $1M in liability coverage.  The caterer may also have some liability insurance though I haven't gotten that far yet with them.  Apparently many weddings are considered BYO events as the alcohol is not actually purchased by the caterer.

I'll email company on monday to get more details for you.

Do you want me to email a copy of the UH Contract to peruse?  I could easily do it when I get a chance.

Rates are presently $169-179 at the Comfort Suites.
Craig

They are right across the street from the Uptown Hideaway and they also have free wireless internet for guests.

I'm sure the Friday night before there will be lots of offlines to lead up to the main event on Saturday. There always are. I'll be visiting a Seattle friend who leaves Saturday for a trip out of the country so I won't be able to go to a Friday event. Think there will any interest of a post CellarTracker! event offline on Sunday? I was thinking about something like Northern Rhones, Bandol or California pinot.

I'm less concerned about UH, a bit more concerned about a Friday event at my house.

I have also looked into this.  You can get a 1 day event rider on your homeowner's insurance.  Also inexpensive and would be incorporated into the cost of the event.  Call your agent--I'm sure they can give you more details.

Good concern, my wife used to be an attorney and I don't leave home without her!
She'll send the contract for everybody to sign absolving you from ANY liability prior to our invasion.

If you wanna get yourself familiar with preliminary draft,
check again the "Wine Tasting at Jewish Lawyer-Brother-In-Law" thread
;)

I posted it in there.  Before you get my bill for services rendered,
I'd like to post this joke absolutely FREE!

Cocktail Party

A doctor and a lawyer were attending a cocktail party when the doctor was approached by a man who asked advice on how to handle his ulcer. The doctor mumbled some medical advice, then turned to the lawyer and asked, "How do you handle the situation when you are asked for advice during a social function?"
"Just send a bill for such advice" replied the lawyer.
On the next morning the doctor arrived at his surgery and issued the ulcer-stricken man a $50 bill. That afternoon he received a $100 bill from the lawyer.

    :)

As the Colonel and I recently found out, it is similarly difficult to express our taste in shrimp cocktail, and Cockburns Port.

My wife and I will be at The Camlin, which I don't think is too far away.  Anyone know anything about that place?

I started a new thread and pinned it to the top so no one will miss it. This one has been very useful, and it is really exciting how quickly this is coming together thanks to CGrimes!

Eric, Is this something that would be possible to plan (with help, of course) or are we all just fantasizing?  Be honest...
