This story shall the good man teach his son;
And Cellar Tracker shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remember'd;
We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that drinks his wine with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That drank with us upon September 5th.

Cheers.  Should be printed on whatever swag Eric and Craig are going to give us at the party.

I'm expecting a DVD (Blu-Ray is better) and soundtrack from the event - at the very least!

Rak,
Sounds like you're in the UK:

"Hello Serge,
Thank you for this wine suggestion.
I'm trying to track it down in the UK; one long shot according to Wine Searcher Pro.
(My favourite recent Bourgogne Rouge was the 2002 from G Barthod; delicious)
Happy drinking! "

Whereabouts?
Might a soiree near London (Heathrow) be on for you?
L.

Hello Colonel,

The agency for whom I work takes delight in stationing me all over this green and pleasant land often with only a week's notice. I'd love to attend if work permits.

Happy drinking!

It would be a shame to let the Seattlites outdo the people who invented wine.
If we can get a quorum I can make it happen.
Failing that I might be forced to crash Seattle.

I'll have to check with Eric, but I'd say two.
I have this feeling I'm going to drink some good wine on the 5th and 6th, whatever happens.
Just looking for the excuse to open something special

Hello Colonel,

The agency for whom I work takes delight in stationing me all over this green and pleasant land often with only a week's notice. I'd love to attend if work permits.

Happy drinking!

And talking of "this green and pleasant land", time for a rousing song I feel -

And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?

Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land.

or perhaps something more secular -

"Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

At the end of the storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone"

By the end of the event we should all be 'tired and emotional'.

I've already got my fall back position.
In this scenario I'd invite my mate Philip Togni and the Kay Bros from down under.
Jacques Prieur and Paul Jaboulet would nip across the Channel.
The troublesome Irish duo Palmer and O'Brion will bring along some tottie - Margot and Donna Maria. although I'm worried they'll try and get Two hands on Bella and Lilly.
With all the drinking we may get a Dead Arm and Black Guts, but it will be worth it.
If I'm really lucky the Comtesse, Pope Clement and St Pierre may turn up on Sunday with the Relic?
We might even visit the Oracle and not the Reading one.

This is our track record so far:
http://www.cellartracker.com/forum/CT_weekend_satellite_in_London%3F/m_23288/tm.htm
Not a pretty sight.
I make it that there's you, me and a possible.
Hence my increasingly manic posts.
Because of their numbers I suspect Seattle will have the opposite problem and struggle to drink much serious wine, although undoubtedly a good time will be had by all.

We should see if we can get a small band of keen wino's and drink some serious stuff
"And those shall think themselves accursed that were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That drank with us ............."

There have to be a few lurkers, but they are unlikely to show their faces unless we can demonstrate a decent event.
I'll give it a week or so, and then in a final attempt to (bribe) get interest will list the wines I'll bring!

Somehow I missed the poll thread. I just voted "probably going to be there", as I have to dodge one business commitment. But if we have a good crowd I should definitely come and bring along at least one 100-point WS wine from Tuscany.

Hope your "good crowd" materialises soon.

Have just cast my vote as a 'possible attendee' but this might well change to a 'probable' if the Gods choose to smile on me! It promises to be the social event of the season!

Sorry I'm late to this party talk, I don't spend nearly as much time on this forum as I could but I'll try and participate a little more in the future.

Sadly I won't be able to attend a U.K. gathering in September, I'm just back from my summer holiday, am visiting relatives this weekend, in Norway the weekend after and the weekends of 13/14 & 20/21st September are either end of a trip to the South of France (thanks Gary!) - therefore for the sake of health, sanity and family relationships I can't even think of being anywhere on the one remaining weekend before October!

As for the future? Although London is a hike for me (for purely selfish reasons Edinburgh, York/Leeds or Manchester would be 2nd choices, after Newcastle!!!) I realise the Metropolis is the logical gathering point for something like this and I'm not averse to doing something like this further down the line, preferably avoiding December/January, April and August/September.

If the meet-up does occur (has it been decided yet?) then good luck to you all, hope you have a great time.

Pity, I will not be able to make it to London.
And I wonder: Is it still happening?

Concerning the Seattle event: Craig, you put a lof of effort in it. It surely will be a success. I have the impression that a lot of people don't realize this will be a HISTORICAL event. And that is a pity.

Eric, I just discovered the possibility for "my private note". I don't know how long it is already there, but that is a great improvement. THANKS!

I Wish you all a great event next weekend! In my mind I will be present. Cannot wait to see the TN's.

Cheers!
Bill.

I'm going to have to pull out.  I'm comitted to seeing the in-laws in France that weekend (13-14) and this weekend my missus gave a very frosty response to the thought of me going off to get drunk and leaving her with the kids.

The good news is that it is the inlaws wedding anniversary onm the 13th so I am expecting some good wine.  I have told the father in law it is time to crack open the following:

Angelus (82 or 85 I think)
Pape Clement (I think early 90s)
A few bottles of 85 Grand Mayne and there is an old bottle of Margaux lurking in the cellar somewhere too.

I will be with you in spirit.  Is there a location decided for the London event yet?

Paul, the satellite was supposed to have been at the same time as the Seattle meeting, ie this coming weekend. But as far as I'm aware it's not happening (Colonel, correct me if I am wrong!). Despite my initial enthusiasm, I couldn't make it for various reasons, too many obligations here at the moment.

If it doesn't go ahead this weekend it still might be worth keeping the idea alive.  I think a London tasting would be more manageable than the invasion to Seattle - the London numbers could be quite small.  Maybe we should see how it goes with Eric's bash and learn any lessons from it and go from there.

We could always hire a place in London - there are loads of restaurants and bars around the financial area that have reasonable rates for weekend hires as they are normally shut at weekends.
