Wowee - some pretty pricey ones there Serge. Nice juice yourself.

Which are the particular producers from the Burg list that you like? I was particular impressed by Dujac and Leroy (surprise surprise)

Paul,
#1 & #1 in no particular order:
Dujac and Leroy

#2 Sylvie Esmonin - I am less familiar with her but impressed by innovation and biodynamic wine making principles. The jury is still out if she becomes favorite or not.

I am a newly converted Dujac fan - but oh so expensive! Leroy is also way out of my price-range, although Mdm Lalou's wines are fantastic and incredibly individual. I was rather impressed with JJ Confuron at the tastings. That will be one house I will look out for in future.

Sylvie Esmonin's style seems to be changing. I like some of her wines, but they seem to be going the was of Dominique Laurent after they became an item. Which means that some people will like the changes and others will not. I found that her wines divided the group I was tasting with more than any others. I found them to be very extracted, but liked them nevertheless.

Paul, the future will tell, I need more data to deside if I like her or was just seduced by the new pretty face on the block

It has been pretty quiet around here the past few days.  People must be on holidays drinking great wine, but not talking about it!
Here is a great QPR Southern Rhone that I am drinking right now.  Average CT price is $14.07, or $22.95 in Ontario, Canada and the average CT score is 89.9 (n=10).

2003 Cline Cellars Zinfandel California .

smooth and not too fruity. 14 pct alc,, not as spicy as ancient vines but goes well with pasta, great at $10 btl.

Had a private Chef's dinner last night at the Black Walnut Inn, Dundee Oregon.  I was intructed to bring two of my best Oregon Pinot Noir's from the cellar.  I brought a 2004 Cristom Signature Cuvee and a 2006 Shea Homer.

The Cristom was very Old World, balanced  good fruit, tastes of cherry, blackberries and smooth.  We did decant it for two hours.

Then we opened the Shea and put it into the decanter and maybe 1/2 hour.  OMG the color was a dark red with some purple in it as it was going into the decanter.  Wonder fuit nose, big fruit and great balance.  Perhaps the best Oregon Pinot Noir that I have ever opened.

Duck, I don't recall seeing  "blackberries" in any "Old World" (Burgundies) descriptors.
Which producer do you have in mind?

Just had Mazzei's Fonterutoli Chianti Classico 2004 - recommendation from Tim Grace of Il Molino de Grace, neighbours in Chianti I think. What a lovely vintage, and a really good wine as well - fantastic value especially if you are a Chianti fan. http://www.cellartracker.com/list.asp?Table=Notes&Pending=True

Baby killer!!!! Drinking '05 Grand Cru in '08 is a sacrelidge!
If you continue doing so, the Singaporean government is going to fix that. They invested 10 billion dollars in UBS Bank which collects lawsuits every day (click my signature) and I see higher taxes in your future :)

We pumped in money into quite a few of the sub-prime friendly banks actually. The 2005 (and a very good one at that) was part of my effort in converting a friend to Burg - he's 2/3 of the way there. Another few bottles tucked away and sleeping, not to be awaken for a long time.

2005 Turkey Flat Shiraz

Wow. Cherry Bomb on the nose! Incredibly dark and inky. Drank with a smoked brisket and over the course of 2-3 hours. Following the overwhelming but very enjoyable fruit in the first glass were caramel, coffee, tobacco, and black currant in subsuquent glasses. Interestingly, the wine had leaked through the cork a bit but I can only assume it had hastened the aging but not enough to "cork" it.

I just drank a Bitch
http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=531691

7/29/2008 rated 84 points: I never met an Aussie that I've been able to hate. I almost always want to but I just can't bring myself to do it. How can you? They're so sincere and gregarious. They treat you like you're their best mate since grade school in the first minute of meeting them. Succeed or fail at anything you were doing at the time, or just introduce yourself by saying your name -- it doesn't really matter. You'll invariably get the same enthusiastic and heartfelt, life-loving response to just about anything you could say or do:
"Effen' brilliant mate! Effen' brilliant! Goodonya! Goodonya!"

Seriously. How can you respond to this with hate without being suddenly overcome with a shameful, self-loathing feeling of dread? That just maybe the truth to what you call hate is a really deep rooted envy of being unable to face life with even a fraction of the unpretentious, sincere, good natured cheer that's just been sent your way by someone who one minute ago was a complete stranger? You find yourself staring deep into the Abyss wondering if you can continue to go through life as you have before; with your smug indifference and supercilious demureness. Or, is it possible to forget thinking about only yourself for a moment and actually try to have a good time?

This wine is no different. It's from Australia, and I immediately wanted to hate it from the bottom of my soul. But as much as I tried, I just couldn't do it. There I stood -- at the Abyss. Where I suddenly had to face myself and The Truth. This wine was cheerful and fun -- you might even say it was "gay".....and I liked it.

It was grenache; fruity red berries. But not a serious grenache like a Gigondas or Vacqueryas. Rather, more like a grenache rose. Light bodied, a bit thin and delicate, but with an extra punch of extracted grape skin to give it a glitzy bright red pigmentation and a touch of grit. It was a Venus in Furs. It was a Bitch. I suddenly wanted to invite all my new Aussie friends over, my new gay frinds; my new, gay, Aussie friends -- all together for a big, gay, Aussie party. We'd drink The Bitch by the case, sing show tunes, do impersonations of Olivia Newton-John, Nicole Kidman, Poppy Montgomery, Portia de Rossi, Rachel Griffiths, Elle Macpherson, Susie Porter.....
Life would never be the same.
