A couple from the fridge.

My last 1997 Cakebread Cab http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=2730

And a 2001 Chyrseia http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=34445

I've really liked following the Cakebread so I was sorry to see the last bottle go and had high hopes from the Chryseia but should have drunk young.

I think he would find it to be too oaky.

Sophenia Blend from Argentina.

If it was a mode of transport it would be a tank fuelled by rocket fuel.

2003 Chateau Faugeres.  Shockingly New World in style, but all in all a good wine...and I think that the wine shop I bought it from made a mistake on the pricing, it was $10 cheaper than anywhere else that I have seen this wine, so that was nice.

Exactly why Serge doesn't.  I've never had Monbousquet so I can't judge for myself, but I can say that I would have loved to be at that vertical tasting.

1998 BV Tapestry

Very good wine, probably high 80s on a 100 point scale.  Far better than the 80 it was given by WS.  Interestingly, I hear that BV received very low scores from WS for a while due to a spat between the winery and the magazine.  My impression, and the majority of TNs would support this.

Probably naive of me not to expect this and a waste of e-paper to discuss in another thread.  Although, does anyone know if some publications are more biased than others?  Just another reason to use CT before buying instead of a magazine that relies on advertisements from the very wineries they evaluate.

A couple of very nice Pinot Noirs, one from New Zealand and the other from Languedoc (!). The Languedoc one was from Vignobles Lorgeril, yet again an impressive wine from the estate! (I'm beginning to sound like I represent them or something, but I don't, really!)

ya just gotta love the depiction of "Chateau Cost-co" on the label ... looks like a very regal structure!

Chateau Pichon Bellevue 2005.  Wasn't listed on cellartracker - had to add.
Drinking rather nicely for an every day sip - mostly merlot (60%) of course and at just $16.

Will seek out more, thought its probably not a long time cellar candidate.

Anyonr know the story here?  CT listed a 1997 and then nothing after that.

A pair of Bordeaux blends, including an Almaviva 2004 - something that might interest the good Colonel.

Heartland Director's Cut

If I analyse it too much it falls apart but all the bits are there; fruit, structure and tannin bit a little linear. Needs to come together. A little old fashioned for an Aussie these days - a bit in yer face and fruity, not much place or subtlety.

2004 Chateau Siran

Had a half bottle at L'avenue in Paris along with salad, steak tartar, and marcinelle (sp) cheese. Perfect example of how Bordeaux just belongs with food. Pleasant light fruit and earthy nose though somewhat light. With no food I would have commented that it was either closed or too early. However, with the meal it really opened up. Tannins and tastes of cherries, hints of oak, and full earth just came completely forward with just the right touch of earthiness. I really enjoyed it but wouldn't have absent the meal.
