You don't need to taste everything during the 3-hour "live" session. I plan to open the Langhe on Friday, and then the Pinot early on Saturday. The other two will be in the decanter until the "live" event. Whatever is left after the live event goes back into the bottle for a final evaluation on Sunday. Tasting Notes will come on Monday as agreed.

Skype is really easy to use, especially for conference text chats. I was able to find the Domaine Drouhin locally at Spec's in Houston. I believe they ship to reciprocal states, but you will have to be careful, our summers are brutal on wine shipments. I went to KL for the Italians, I will have them shipped aire JJ Buckley still has a few bottles for the Casa Lapostolle left for $49.99, Spec's has the 2004 (for $69, ouch) Looking forward to trying all of them.

Looks like it? Have you tried Theatre of Wines. They deliver anywhere for 10 pounds and have the 2006 Produttori del Barbaresco Langhe Nebbiolo as well so not too bad a deal. I doubt I'm going to be able to meet up in person though. Think leaving the wife with the in-laws on the first night will put a little dampner on the rest of the holiday! Wrighty

Maestro, If you didn't catch my post in the other thread, I was hoping to find out the poll results to include maybe #4 & #5 in the tasting. Perhaps unofficially, we could include a couple of extra wines for those of us that did not secure #1-3. Also, was there any answer on how this could all get posted to a common event page? Thanks for all your time and acting as "moderator" - this might be worthy of repeating once in awhile, as your original idea suggests

But I myself am not planing on opening these wines during the tasting. Eric has not replied with info as to whether a single event could hold all the TNs, but looking at the way the event functionality seem to work in CT it does not look like it is currently possible, so it looks like each one of us will need to create their own event.

Fingers, I don't know which you were having trouble getting ahold of, but if this helps, Wine Exchange in Orange (www.winex.com) has the Drouhin and the Clos Apalta, and you can get the two Italians at www.klwines.com. They are based in Northern CA (with a store in Hollywood, if you want to brave the freeways), so it shouldn't be too much for shipping. Otherwise, as Maestro said, many people are just tasting the ones that are easiest to get ahold of. Ooops...just saw Fingers post in the "what did you buy this week?" thread. CG, You say you wont get through 4 bottles in a weekend? Oh man, now I seriously feel like I have an alcohol problem because 4 bottles per weekend is the minimum in this house. I admire your self restraint. It is the French influence in this house - if there is not a bottle of cava or champagne open by 11 my wife is demanding an explanation.

All wines we chose are young and -- with the possible exception of the Pinot Noir from Oregon, which I don't know -- will resist oxidation for a long while after opened. If you put them back in the bottle, re-cork them, and put them in the fridge, I'd be surprised if these wines would not drink well for 3 days. My Friday dinner will feature the Nebbiolo. (I will save some of the Nebbiolo for Saturday too). On Saturay I will open the three remaining wines early, as they all need air. Our lunch will feature the Pinot, and the Dinner will feature the Chilean. When the "live" event starts I will re-taste those three and advance into the Brunello. All that is left goes back into the bottles and in the fridge for a final evaluation on Sunday.

I like the thinking behind the wine selection. Just got my Drouhin and the Nebbiolo from Theatre of Wine in Greenwich - now I just need to keep my filthy hands off it. I explained to the guys in the shop what was going on with the tasting and they were very interested - thought it was a good idea. For those of you UK based people that are doing this, have you found anywhere in central london that sells the Clos Apalta?

Shouldn't we all do the same things with the wines re serving. If someone decants 6 hours earlier and someone else pops it in the fridge to cool down and then drinks straight away it's going to taste different. What about you recommend a preferred technique. I've still got to find the wines. L.
