The Nebbiolo and Pinot have arrived from Theatre of Wines but I didn't get a reply from the Secret Cellar or Fine and Rare on the other two.  Can't find in HK either, lots of Apalta 04 but nobody seems to have an 03 lurking.

Hadn't thought of food but will go with all on Saturday and then finish off on Sunday.

Had a last scoot round today, I had one big hope but they only had the 2004 Apalta.  Looks like I'll be back on-line and chasing the Secret Cellar for the Apalta.  Rare and Fine had sold the Brunello last week!

Ordered the Apalta on-line from the Secret Cellar, not sure how I missed their on-line ordering before so now only the Brunello.  Any tips from the UK crowd appreciated.

Has the tasting been cancelled - have been away less than a week and no postings?

the tasting is on, "all the way",
and what's one can add to it?
Everybody got their bottles and waiting for the "D-Day"

Was sure people were still searching when I left.

Guess I'll have to make do with 3 bottles.

Maestro,  I ended up with the Tenuta Nuova BdM.  To be consistent, I probably should not substitute and since this was more expensive than the regular bottling, do you recommend that I hold this for awhile?

I may end up opening the Allende Rioja or the Moccagatta for the weekend instead.

Man.... I only have one - the Domaine Drouhin. Paid a pretty penny for it as well, close to US$60. At least that's better than the Casanova de Neri for US$90. I refused to get swindled that badly.

Myself and a couple of others will be doing the tasting at my place and we have all of them but the Apalta.  I've had the 03 Apalta a couple of times and still have a couple of 04s in my inventory.

So far I only have the DDO and have not yet had time to go searching for the others.  Will do my best to get 1-2 of the others.  At least I have one of them.

It is a little haphazard to follow all postings but it looks like...

If we number the wines as such
#1 The Langhe
#2 The Drouhin
#3 The Apalta
#4 The Casanova di Neri

Then it appears to me that we are approximately here:
Maestro -- 1,2,3,4
j2k -- 1,2
pjaines -- 1,2
RoundersRob, jhannah27, and blueshorts -- 1,2,4
Wrighty -- 1,2,3
Serge -- 2,3
GalvezGuy -- 1,2,3,4
cgrimes -- 1,2,4
mclancy10006 -- 1,2
Paul S -- 2
pbm -- 1,(2?),4
apes -- 3

And then I am not sure about which wines these folks will be tasting:
- niklasw
- mbannon
- fingers
- Colonel Lawrence
- doryman

Any corrections, updates, or people I have forgotten are welcome.

I'll be tasting with RoundersRob and Blue Shorts at Rob's house.  So I am in on 1, 2, and 4.

Saw the Apalta at the Helsinki airport, but it was 2000 vintage and going for 59 euros.  Will be looking through any wine stores here in southern France for any of the above! Even if I can't find any, can I join in the skype chat to "evesdrop"?

I've got 1 and 2.  Too much arsing about is involved in getting hold of the other ones.

I'm still working on it. I just may have the opportunity to pick up three of the four.

Okay, I'm in. Just snagged the Casanova de Neri and the Produttori. If I can come up with an excuse to drive an hour east I can pick up the Drouhin as well.

Maestro,

I'm in for #2.
Allthough I bought 6 of the original 25, only 1 made the list.  By accident, I ended up with the Tenuta Nuova bottling of the Casanova di Neri.  I think I'll open the Allende Rioja or the Peter Lehmann Barossa that weekend, too.

I'm pretty sure that I'll now have all but the Clos Apalta--that one seems a hopeless cause and do not want to order it online.  3 of 4 ain't bad!

Yep, just got notification that both the Italian wines are in and waiting for me.  Count me in!

Should we pop-n-pour these wines or whould we agree on decanting them for a set amount of time?

From my experience of the Drouhin it needs a bit of time to open up.  I might just drink half a glass and let the wine stand for a couple of hours.

The other bottle we are drinking is the Langhe and I don't know this wine so suggestion welcome.  I am assuming because it is a younger wine it might need a bit of air.

Thoughts?  It might be worth explaining on our tasting notes how we served the wine.  My two bottles have been sitting in a wine storage fridge thingy at 15 degrees for the last 2 months so should be settled.  Will bring them out the day before to let them slowly warm up.

I will decant all wines for 3 hours. All 4 wines will benefit significantly from aeration.

Maestro,
Can you reiterate when and how you will be communicating for the tasting.  It is unlikely that I will be able to partake in the talk but I'll try to get away for a time if possible.  We will be staying with some friends for the weekend and I insisted on bringing the wine.  Little did they know that they would be participating in an historical event.  Craig
