otto -> New grape (Avesso) + cleaning up a Vinho Verde (7/8/2008 8:27:53 AM)

Eric,

I just entered this wine: http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=543677 , but the grape it is made from (Avesso) wasn't available. Can it be added? Can the subregion of Vinho Verde that it comes from (Baião) also be added? Thanks!

There was another wine entered before, http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=516625 , which seems to be the same except that the producer's name (Quinta do Ferro) was left out completely.

-Otto

Hi Otto and Eric,

Avesso has at least two synonym names, Jaén Blanco and Pardina, of which Pardina already is in CT. I do not know to what extent each synonym is used but I get the impression that Jaén Blanco is the most common name in Spain and Avesso is what the grape is called in Portugal. I don't know the policy regarding having synonym names in CT but I guess that this is quite important to do in the same manner for all synonym names.
This would be interesting to know (and maybe there is some old thread where this is described). I am planning to request a small Württemberg clean-up during my vacation (doesn't that sound like a nice little project?) and since there are a lot of grapes grown in Württemberg known under other names elsewhere, this could be good to know.

Regards
Patrik

Hi Eric,

Have you had time to have a look at this?

Patrik
