I promised myself I wouldn't. The prices were just ridiculous... I was not going to subject myself to this extortion... Blah blah blah... Yet I find myself buying Bordeaux 2005 like there's no tomorrow... [&o]

Dear Maestro, It's a good (perhaps great vintage). If you like Bordeaux (which I do), you have to follow your heart. Keep an eye for values. Given the state of the world economy they will appear eventually. Also, maye be think abut buying lower down the "food chain". The vintage is deep (at least that is my first take), and so quality can be found at all levels. The price craziness is much more pronounced at the upper levels. If I recall properly, you are Italian, so matters of the heart should be natural for you [:)] Cheers. John

Yes, I am going deep (just bough a case of Château d'Angludet and another one of Château Siran (I know, a lot of Margaux... I think Margaux did really well in 2005). These ones are reasonably priced in the $35-40 range, but I have also been buying the more expensive stuff...

Maestro, I find myself in the same position. Can't stop myself. I am focussing on the wines in the 20-50 euro range. I think there is some excellent wine out there that will age well but not cost the earth. Who in their right mind would pay 1,000 euros for a bottle of wine? Is it 20 times better than a 50 euro bottle? I think not. Having said that, I am now starting to look elsewhere for additions to my cellar. Burgundy, Italy, Spain, South Africa.... 2005 will probably be the last time I buy a lot of Bordeaux. I am sure I am not alone.
