I get invitation from AMEX to participate the dinner at French laundry,
Invitation Only,
October 17th, Screaming Eagle vertical all the way to 1995 and Jonata.

9 course dinner, prepared by Thomas Keller, for a meager price of...
$9500 or just 1,187,500 points.

If anybody dies to go - I'll be more than happy to make arrangements in your name after the meager sum of $9,540 wired into my acount.

Air tickets, hotel room, hookers,
are not included.

Serge,

Let me get back to you on this one. I am certain I can rustle up 10k if I sell a kidney.

John

John, you will have to sell both if Mrs John decides to join
:)

Now that's the perfect pairing... Screaming Eagle and the French Laundry.  They should combine and change the name to Screaming Laundry.[image]http://www.cellartracker.com/forum/image/s5.gif[/image]

Having said that.  I know that if you have money to burn, prices like that keep our the riff-raff (people like me).  If I had unlimited funds, I'd try it.  It's not always about value.  Sometimes we do things just because we want to.

What's the extra $40 for?

rloomis -> RE: ..and when you thought your intelligence couldn't be insulted any more, (8/13/2008 5:03:41 PM)

or there's space for 2 to join us at French Laundry on Saturday, September 27, at 5.30pm.
Just pay for your own meals, I think it's about 275-375 per person for 12 courses...and unlike Serge, we won't try to charge you an extra $40 bucks [:D]

Serge Birbrair -> RE: ..and when you thought your intelligence couldn't be insulted any more, (8/13/2008 5:58:09 PM)

$40 is what my bank charges for wire.

Talk about "penny wise and dollar foolish"!

If $40 is the only thing what bothers you....I have a good news! there are 50 packages available and I'll only ask for $40 extra fro ALL of them!
;)

Wow, a single handling charge for all 50! That's a great deal if bought in bulk...works out to less than a $1 each!
Still, I think our deal is better. Look at it this way: Less than $1000 for the privilege of joining my wife and I for dinner, and you get 12 courses of food served to you at FL for free!

"..and when you thought your intelligence couldn't be insulted any more,"

when i first read the title of this thread...
i couldn't help but think of the long list of BS we have been force feed since
the fl supreme court ushered in the
belzebu
and still... at the very end of these 2 very long terms...
every day insult after insult after insult
like a multilayered pancake-theoried bin-laden-cherry-on-top pile of goo
maybe the morel of the story is...
if we stop eating it, they'll stop dishing it out
and how is this related to wine you might ask?
well how else do you expect to digest all of that starch and fiber? lol
... as a loosely associated parallel
i am amazed at the amount of BS there is out there in the world of wine
the pathetic sales tactics that are repetitively used... is nauseating
but obviously the business/marketing model works... they are making money
for the mindless swine keep coming back for more

a good friend of mine,
who was once the king of selling anything and everything you could imagine on e-bay
told me that the greatest insight he gained from that experience
was the realization that, there are a whole bunch of people out there
who don't know what to do with their money
all you have to do is give them a reason to open their wallet
doesn't matter how inferior your product or sales pitch is there is a buyer

and what i am noticing with product that has an air of sophistication/status associated with it
you find the most transparent cons and most gullible suckers
who are more then happy to be taken
low self-esteems and damaged egos come at a high price
keeping up with the johnsons'

there's my rant for the day
lol ... oops my blinders fell off ...
blue shorts is thinking to himself "troll"
and fingers is daydreaming me into the subject of another poll ...
just make me a crown made of tinfoil and tag my posts with "ignore" ...lol

conclusion:
in this twisted world it appears that lies are easier to digest then the truth

...back to writing my book... with a bottle of wine [;)]

Brilliant chart!

I saw it the first time in 2001 and still can't look at it without smile!
