Colonel,
You talk about Cricket from a Test perspective. As NZ has only just managed a win against Bangladesh of all places, and OZ has been handed a ridiculous defeat in the sub-continent, what are your thoughts on a one-dayers wine, or heaven forbid, a 20-20 wine? Maybe for the OZ, a Penfolds Icon( all hype up front, not much to back it up), and for the Kiwis, a Wither Hills Sav (not exactly what it should be?).
Anyway what about the world's most glorious game, Rugby Union. A good Stonyridge Larose really is representative of the All Blacks. Awesome critical acclaim, huge points accumulated, but typical of bordeaux's, open it up in the wrong year equals horrid dissappointment.......................yet again.

I'm no fan of Oz sport but think it has a little to back it up, as do some Penfolds - good choice Mary!
Somehow I see Rugby Union as Northern Rhone; classy but with the potential to be bruisers and Rugby League as Southern Rhone; a little racier and in some eyes in the shadow of the north.

A two buck chuck, right? Fantastic! How come I've never seen those CT names in any other tasting notes I've viewed??! Some people actually had a lot to say about the wine...

Just thought I would bump this up for a number of reasons.
1. What are you english blokes going to be drinking to celebrate Australia getting beaten by India leading upp to the Ashes?

And, I have a beautiful Gibbston Reserve Pinot waiting for me once the All Blacks beat the Wallabies tommorrow night in the Bledisloe.

Good call on the Gibbston Reserve.  Very nice stuff.

To celebrate the impending doom of the aussies I will be drinking mainly Indian wine.

Apparently it exists.

Good luck with the Pinot Mary, not the best game for a neutral, even in HK.

As for the ashes, beware a wounded tiger! Looks like there could be a contest but it will need our best against a weaker Aussie vintage - much like our sparklers.

Tottenham - orange squash (better than the bread and water that they've deserved so far this year).
Liverpool - vinegar, or anything else that leaves a sour taste.

jhannah - you are right about F1.  It is just as dull as NASCAR but without so many Red Necks.

Are you nuts?  Did you see the race yesterday?  I doubt that I have seen or will see anything that exciting in motor racing for quite some time.

Agreed - yesterdays race was exciting, but I stick to my basic belief that F1 comes down to 2 hours of monotony and 5 seconds of excitement.

I actually fell asleep in front of the race and missed the end.  Doh!

It'll be a little more exciting next year with the changes to the cars to make them a little more aerodynamically similar.  Hopefully that will generate a little bit more competitiveness and overtaking.   I still love to watch it despite the occasionally boring race.

So it was you driving the Toyota that gave Hamilton the Championship?

Thats right - I was just taking the kids out for a drive and I found myself on this damned race track with lunatics trying to overtake me from every angle.....
