Okay ... I really feel stupid.
I can't even figure out how you "white box copy" the note you are replying to and get it to show up in your reply.

There is a little tab at the top right of every post/message that says Quote.  Click it and the entire message goes into the white box - then you can delete the parts you don't want.

Now, if someone could tell me how to hide a link, so I can write "Rain Man" for instance and it will highlight the words in olive green - or whatever that color is - and link to http:\\websiteforrainman...if you follow.  If you don't, see grafstrb's post above (#392).  How did you get the names to be links?  (The sad part is, I knew this once.  My brain is full and I am now replacing things - or the alcohol killed off that brain cell.)

You crack me up!  I have long been a believer of the "max capacity" theory for many years.  Something comes in, something has to leave.
Sacrifices.  Wine knowledge for something less important.
And I probably screwed this up too.

make the link like this...

url=http...whatever.com  and the whole thing surrounded by square brackets  [ ] then the name you want for the link.  then

so [ url = http...whatever.com ]MY LINK

Just take the space out between the [ and the "u" and take out the spaces around the = sign and take out the space after the last letter of your link like the "m" in com and then it will work.

Colonel,

To the best of my knowledge, the square brackets are elements of HTML code (the stuff that web pages are made of) which tells the system that there is going to be some form of instruction between them. As I understand them, there is always a pair of brackets that are identical, with the exception being that the second set has a / in it to act as an end point.

Examples (Note, I have to use () instead of [] for these examples to show up):
(b)(/b) will give bold Text
(i)(/i) will give italicized Text
(u)(/u) will underline the text

So the net-net is that when I do the [Image] button, I paste in my hyperlink between the two bracketed blocks that say Image in them and the system knows to retrieve that image from the Photobucket link and imbed it in the message. That is, when it works.

Tacman,

I think what you are asking for is what is shown as the Link feature on the Mac, on Windows it appears as a little globe with a chain link in front of it, slightly to the left of the image mountains. You type out your text in the body of the message, ie what you want to show as orange underlined words, and then you highlight it with your cursor and then click the little World w/chain button and it will ask you to specify the link you want to imbed. You will either have to cut and paste this from another window, or will need to know it from memory.

CL and Tacman, no self-derision on here, we are all learning about wine and computers...next stop, women!

And on that note... One last link for the night

Did you see this when you clicked on the "Quote" link (without the first space in  [ quote... ):

Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Americans!

We're going to a Thanksgiving brunch at noon.  We'll stuff ourselves silly, drink Mimosa's for a couple of hours, come home, take a nap, then open a bottle of???

For now I'm going to have a cup of tea and then try to catch a little more sleep.  Late night last night, and I'm getting too old to party all night and still get up with the sun.

Our Doctor colleages will confirm that most people die in their sleep, at night.
Now if there's a better reason for staying up all night and partying I'd like to hear it!

A world that has for thousands of years suffered from Zealots, Assassins, Thugs or more recently Terrorists.
They just seem to get rebranded from time to time.

Forum seems to have quietened down a bit since I've been away.

I tried the URL thing tonight and didn't work first time so here goes another for the notes for the dinner I had with Paul in London

Please friends, help me to stay strong.  I have the guy from Apex here right nwo to give us a quote on our cellar conversion--he's with my husband looking at the technical stuff at this moment, but I can see that my original budget will be double if not triple before I'm done.  So many racking options, each nicer than the previous.  Oy!

Annerk,

I feel your pain, but my cellar did cost 4 times my original budget, so I feel that talking some sense into you is at the very least hypocritical, I am afraid.

I hope you do well...

Thanks, but I think it's too late for me.  The rep showed me how I could increase capacity from about 600 bottles to about 1800 bottles.  Even my husband thinks I should spend the extra to get the maximum space possible.

Eric will give you very good reasoning for having to maintain about 1000 bottles of inventory in order to keep a nice open drinking window of 20 years of age on your good wines.      It worked when he explained it to my wife in Seattle.  Now we just need to build out the space.

Don't worry about the extra expense for the racking ...
you will spend far more money on the extra 1200 bottles you can now provide a happy home for.
Send us pix when all is done!

My only comment is a reminder that every dollar not spent on the cellar is a dollar that can be spent on wine.

This forum is sounding more and more like a drug rehabilitation forum.

Phrases such as "the slippery slope" and "I just have to have them" etc etc.

Maybe we need a 7-step programme in order to cope.

You mean like this?  I think I'm actually learning something!

I am sitting here at a conference.  Bored out of my mind.  watching people walk by with their free cocktails, budweiser beer, and generic red/white wine in a cup, and I just can't help but thinking about putting a pen through my ear.

happy evening everyone!

Unfortunately I have some bad news tonight.  My dog decided to get into a garbage can and eat a razor.  He's at the emergency vet having surgery to remove it.

Crazy dog has no desire to eat "people food," he prefers plastic, cardboard, and paper.

Hoping the vet will call with good news soon.

Paid several emergency vet bills in my day ... had a Rotweiller that I loved dearly.
I hope your dog pulls through.
Stay the course.
